Finished Deus Ex: HR. Great game. Few quibbles. The boss fights blow. Even on casual you can get taken out in two hits until you figure out the "trick" for each boss fight.

I wish all your batteries would recharge instead of just the first one. If I spend all the points to upgrade my cloaking to level 3, I should be able to blow past whole rooms of enemies with it whenever I want. I really don't think it's that game breaking, especially since enemies will still hear you (and it seems like some still see you), unless you upgrade your feet augments to reduce noise. I guess the devs decided that since they throw praxis at you like candy they needed to limit you somehow. While I did only wind up like 5 praxis short of upgrading everything, I still think I should be able to do whatever I want though that late in the game if I have the augments. Optic camo doesn't hurt MGS and cloaking here shouldn't hurt Deus Ex.

Also wish it had new game+. Spend all the time getting all those augments and you have to start over? Especially when even Detroit the first time around has clear choices of "well to get here you either have to hack or have the high jump". Having New Game + would allow me to have even more choice on a playthrough.

Luckily I've got the PC version so I'm sure someone will mod it to make all these dreams come true.

Just finished up Fallout 3 and all the DLC the other day. While the DLC was okayish, I'm glad I borrowed the DLC disc since for the most part they overstayed their welcome. And I now see why people bitch about Broken Steel enemies, ugh, lame damage sponges for the most part, especially the cloaked aliens and Ghoul Reavers. I played a second character to do the neutral/evil thing and the game was fun again up until I got near level 20 and BS enemies started popping up hell even the hillbillies in Point Lookout pissed me off a bit. Fun game until BS kicks in but damn does it ever take forever to do stuff in that game so I'm glad I'm done with it.

....Which is why it's kinda silly that I went back to Oblivion to finally play that DLC. Shivering Isles has been decent so far but you do run into sponge baddies from time to time (grummites I'm looking at you mostly). Ugh and I've got to find the will to offload all my junk, it's a pain cycling through to find what you want all the time (repair hammer I'm looking at you).

I'm slaying zombies on a beach. A beach that looks like a PS3.

It depends. I love [to kill] zombies, but am not a great big fan of the first-person melee; I enjoy first-person games with RPG-style levelling and skilltree elements, but am disappointed that the weapon synthing system, at least at first glance, is a little too similar to Dead Rising's (although, to be fair, I have yet to put together my first custom weapon); and I appreciate emotional, character-driven storytelling set against the carnage of a zombie apocalypse, but am kinda bummed that the story and atmosphere that was established by Dead Island's announcement trailer was pretty much a one-time, stand-alone affair.

I won't talk about graphical and aural hiccups and oddities, for not only did I find those in abundance when playing Dead Rising 2 on my PS3, Techland is supposedly releasing a patch to fix a bunch of these things. In any case, nothing has happened to my gameplay experience thus far that I would describe as anything more than mildly irritating (some frame-skipping when attacking more than four zombies, audio not synced up with video during some cutscenes, etc.).

As for the 4-player online co-op element, the very aspect of Dead Island that clinched me buying the game, I haven't yet successfully played a session with anybody-- I mean, I tried starting up a game with one of my old Rock Band supergroup buddies, but my messages to him were left unanswered. One neat aspect of the game's multiplayer is its "Nearby System", which allows you to jump into someone else's online session at the push of a button if they are near to you levelwise or geographically or both (actually, I forget what the game's precise definition of "nearby" is, so don't listen to that last part), provided they have enough public player slots left in their party.

I'm still waiting for a few schoolmates and/or old roommates to get their own games, but hey, I'm up for some co-op zombie-slaying if anyone playing on the PS3 is up for it.

You should send me an invite. I'll kill the zombies with you.

After all, somebody needs to teach those bastards a lesson.

Finally finished the main story mode of Dragon Quest IX. It was good but I liked VIII and some of the 2D ones more.

I've moved on to Dead Island and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Both are fun games, but Space Marine is by //far// the better of the two. Dead Island is, at it's core, Borderlands with a different loot system and zombies instead of bandits, mercs, ect. Which has it's pluses and minuses - it means it's a solidly built game, with useful (if fairly boring) talent trees and a fantastic multiplayer experiance. It also means that solo gets old fairly fast, since it amounts to bieg led by the hand from one quest to another, and the fact that it keeps teh Borderlands system of "die and respawn a few steps back with a little bit less money" runs completely counter to the zombie movie influence and styling of the game, taking out any kind of tension there could have possibly been. They should have made it more like L4D, where you can find respwn points to get players back, or only let them respawn when people returned to a hub. Then dying would carry some actual weight, and you'd feel like you actually fucked up.

Space Marine, on the other hand, is an insanely fun, brutal action romp through Warhammer lore. It could do with some moer variation in teh enemies where I am, but the arsenal is a tone of fun, and watching Orks pop into a fine red mist is always gratifying. There's really very little I'd change abuiot the game, and while I wouldn't call it GotY material, it's still worth every penny paid for it. It's a ton of fun, and I hear the multiplayer is even more fun. And next month, they're adding co-op!

Yes, what of it?

I just finished my first playthrough of Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together. The one thought I have with the ending I got was: "Now THAT's how you end a story." Any complaints I had about the experience were rewarded, and it ended on a really interesting note. Totally worth the 75 hrs it took me to beat the campaign. I plan on breaking from it for a little while, but it is truly an awesome game. I'll probably get it on PSN so I can play it on Vita someday too.

I'd love to see a Great Debate on this game in the future.

The main course is Arkham Asylum, a game I finally got my hands on and it's fucking great. It's a borrow but I'm sold hard and will own a copy as soon as possible. Then when i'm done with Batman it's back to Valkyria Chronicles.

Another instance of me being late to the party, but i just bought Super Mario Galaxy today (they dropped the original box price to $20 as well so I got it instead of the Selects) and played a few minutes of it. Seems legit.

Also going through Resident Evil REmake as my side dish. Almost forgot how much I love this game and will never let it go again (it's my 3rd time owning it).
