Okay so this thread is to list your most recent random research on the interwebz. Why? So we can share our journeys I suppose. Format for posts:

1) A start point : Where did your journey originate.

2) Description of where the journy took you, what you learned

3) Est time spent on this quenching of the knowledge thirst.

<span style="color: #808080;">Start point : <span style="color: #ffffff;">FB video of Great Pyramid of Giza</span></span>

<span style="color: #808080;">Journey :</span> So I have World History as a "like" on FB. They posted a short video about the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pyramid_of_Giza"; target="_blank">Great Pyramid of Giza</a>. This lead me to research the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Wonders_of_the_Ancient_World"; target="_blank">7 ancient wonders of the world</a>. Which lead me to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus_of_Rhodes"; target="_blank">Colossus of Rhodes</a>. Which in turn lead me to research the worlds <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_statues_by_height"; target="_blank">largest standing statues</a>. I'm upset at the Taliban because they blew up some old statues that were carved into the side of some cliffs. They looked really cool too. Anyway this was my latest time sink into the internet.

<span style="color: #808080;">EST time spent : <span style="color: #ffffff;">2hrs</span></span>

^I've always found that statue of Mother Motherland fascinating and awe inspiring.

I've been wiki-ing for about 3hours because i can't sleep.

<span style="color: #3366ff;">Starting point</span> : A summary of Storm of Swords

<span style="color: #3366ff;">Journey</span> : Just finished reading the book, was reading a detailed summary to clear up a few points. This lead me to read about direwolves, fictional and real. Which lead to extinct species of wolves. Which lead to classification of animals. Which lead to classification of living things. Which lead to this<a href="https://www.zo.utexas.edu/faculty/antisense/tree.pdf";> crazy picture of the phyllogenetic tree.</a> Which lead me to an article about the phyllogenetic tree. Which lead to an article about <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradigm_shift";>paradigm shifts.</a> Which lead to a biography of Copernicus. Which lead to an article about Galileo. Which lead to the common (false) belief that Galileo proved the earth was round. Which lead to a tidbit about about Eratosthenes where I learned that he was the first person to measure the circumference of the Earth, some 2200 years before satelites.

<span style="color: #3366ff;">EST time spent</span> : 3 hours. Was worth it though.

That, indeed, is a crazy picture of the phyllongenetic tree lol. Was Eratosthenes accurate in his measurements?

The Motherland Calls has always been a favorite of mine, she looks so statuesque. hurr hurr

The shortest lived statue I love was the Goddess of Democracy.

*This is a place-holder because me getting distracted is inevitable*

I hate wikipedia with all it's links. I caught myself doing this with Fallout's wikipedia page:

1. opened Fallout wikipedia with the intention of bug searching a crash in New Vegas

2. found a refererence to Operation Anchorage, followed link

3. followed link to history of USA / Chinese war and Alaska

4. followed link of Annexation of Canada

5. followed link of Canada in Fallout universe

6. followed link to references to Canada in Fallout 3's 'The Pitt' DLC

The game has surprisingly rich history and backstory.
