silently judging all of you

I know there are some kickass photographers here, so we're going to have a thread of kickass photos you've taken.

Just west of town, just before sunset, at totality.

Capital M before egz

Those pictures are awesome! Good shot of the eclipse!

These first two were from the same sunset a couple of years ago after some light rain:

I think I posted at least the second one on Ye Olde' FFO.

As for a newer one, a picture of the late Buster - an Australian terrier having a drink from the river.

Sugar. Short AND sweet.

Yikes and away!

Took this last week.

SC, could I poke you for the details of your photo? Camera, lens, shutter, etc? It's an amazing shot.

The camera is the same one as always, my Canon 20D, with a 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM lens.  I was in aperture priority, and bumping settings around a lot, with a dying battery, so let me look at my EXIF...  @105mm, ISO 100, f/8, 1/13 sec shutter (!) (god bless USM.)  Had my ND4, CPL, and an old UV filter stacked on the lens as a makeshift solar filter.  Post was just tweaked a little more blue and a little more magenta (don't recall the numbers), +25% on fill light, +0.35 on exposure, +35 on contrast and +40 on clarity in Camera Raw, cropped then unsharp mask in PS.

I'll be fiddling with it more today to see if I can get some of the haloing and lense flare to go away.

Otherworld

See, I was going to post some photos I took in Spain a few years back. But, now I'm just going to sit in the corner and be depressed about my lack of photography skills.

Great men aren't everywhere, just where it counts.

If you ever see me online playing Halo, join me please.

Custard Creams

Wow there's some brilliant photographers here.  I'm an enthusiastic amatuer that would dearly like to spend more time and money improving my skills but here are some of my better photos:

Gibraltar:

Chamonix - France

Rome:

Venice:

Paihia Bay, Bay of Islands - New Zealand:

Hawaii:

I would love to try get more "atmosphere" (if thats the right word) into my photos like Kal's.  Probably need more lens filters for longer exposures.  I hope once my life has settled down again soon I can get back into photography as its a great hobby.

Your photos are good, you have a good eye. Watch out they are almost all a little tilted to the right.
As for atmosphere, most of it comes from a little post-processing in photoshop. It helps to have interesting lighting and good exposure in the first place, but post-processing can go a long way to turn a great photo into an excellent one. (It can't however turn a crappy shot into an interesting one, although Instagram's success is largely based on that belief).

Some Opera Floozy

I didn't know we had a bunch of photo people!  Mole, you've got super beautiful colors going on + Kal your stuff is AWESOME.

I'm currently shooting and editing work for an exhibit in the fall but none of it is stuff that would be of any real interest, but here is a probably boring picture from it anyway because I wanna play etc.
