It wasn't just the enthusiasm, but the sheer challenge of it all. Of course we were also younger and had the time to do such challenges and there weren't any MMOs with similar scopes... doing such now = ferget it!

This! A thousand times this. I could never put the time I put into FFXI into another MMO; I'm at a different place in life.

Exactly. It was perfect timing and good execution on the game's part. I think of it like some sort of lost odyssey never to be repeated.

So is it FFXI-2 yet or are they really working to seperate the two games?

How is the new job system and does it mesh well with the old one? I saw a few character models, warrior looks cool, bard/archer looks god awful. Is it worth the monthly fee to get back into the game or should  I wait?

From what I understand 2.0 isn't even live yet.

2.0 may not be live yet but I believe there have been some major overhauls/adjustments/additions in the past few months. I was wondering how it stacks up to the previous 'version' and if it's worth the monthly fee now.

Here's the story:

Playing Starcraft  2 with my friend and after awhile we start talking about FFXIV. He tells me 'All this talk about XIV makes me wanna play it. I'm gonna go play XIV after this next match.' So I'm all like OMGWTFBBQ and what not, which is a normal reaction, but then......but then I wanted to play it too. And so......

They got me again!

I'm just riding goobbues. Yea it's totally no big deal.

I know I'm blowing up this thread but after receiving this item I just had to share the description with everyone. Made me chuckle.

So, a friend fo mine bought me the game because he wanted someone to play with and it was cheap. I will say, I am mildly impressed, because a lot of these changes are already apparent playing the game. Like, if you played it at all before, you can feel the change. I played it back when it came out, via a buddy pass, and holy hell a lot of the change shows. I'm actually looking forward tow here they go with  it. The game still isn't great by any means, but this is all heading down a good road.

No new FF14 2.0 trailer at E3, which means they're 6 months from launch and they aren't confident to put something out there.

Man, they are just too proud to admit their mistakes, aren't they?

That ... looks polished, but still rather uninspired. Like pretty much everything else Square Enix has made since the merger!

I think its the most inspired MMO since WOW design wise.

Rift, TOR, Conan, LotR, TES:O all just look like wow. Tera looks like moe moe kun. and GW2 looks like Everquest and well Guild Wars.

Im loving this will all my heart. <3
