Clowd, you said the same thing about FFXIV's original release - and look how that turned out. ;)

I'm not really a fan of FFXIV's new GUI to be honest - it's far too cluttered (even more so than the current/original interface) and the fonts/icon designs look like they've been pinched straight from FFXIII. It also looks far too cyberinspired and out of place for a game with decidely medieval leanings.

Call me stubborn but I still prefer FFXI's menu-based system. At least that looks like an old-school FF interface, to an extent.

Sad, but true. And bashing a big rock into said cityscapes I don't think is going to change that in a hurry.

It's like a resturant with terrible cooking and bad service saying "We're much better now!", when all they've done is change the seating arrangements. A crappy game by design will always be a crappy game no matter how much you tinker with the interface and graphics.

That's a real busy UI for the default. I mean, I've seen less busy WoW raider addon GUI's and those can get quite ridiculous.

Don't see what's so inspired looking about the graphics either. Just looks like higher res FFXI.

Which would have probably been a better idea from the start.

Every time I look at Final Fantasy XIV, I just wish Final Fantasy XI was redone with those graphics and better draw distance. I realize it's kind of a lame thing to wish for, but I feel like FFXI is just such a fantastic game, but is really showing its age now.

Isn't that guy's identity already known though? He's one of the Garlean Empire's Judges if I remember right. But yeah, it's pretty obvious SE are setting him up to be the main antagonist for the game.

Which just seems like they're rehashing FFXII again. *sigh*

The art style and roles they play are similar, but motives and intentions are completely FFXIV and not related to any other game in the series. They also mentioned that past themes, like the Crystal Tower in III, will be implemented in 2.0 so why not take what was good from XII and put it into XIV. Looking back two years ago this game is far more than leaps and bounds better. I feel good about the release of 2.0.

Off camera footage, but I have to admit it looks far superior to 1.0 from both artistic and gameplay aspects.

And hey, you can jump on chocobos.

Huh...didn't notice the chocobos were flying until you mention it.

And is it me or this is totally Jeuno?

Not just you, I swear a certain clocktower looks the exact same.

I'm told the game does need a Jeuno - there's no central hub.

I believe that's what they originally planned Ishgard would become when it was to be eventually introduced (independent city state that is, kind of, centrally located, takes a back seat in world affairs, and consists of a giant citadel - I mean, it's likely that's even meant to be Ishgard's Adventurer Guild in the original opening movie).

But the change in direction for the game I guess has kind of killed off that idea. Ul'dah has therefore became the 'central hub' for the game by default, but it's not the same (it reminds me too much of the bad days of 'Laggate' in FFXI, right down to simillar architecture).

Seeing the new GUI up closer though, I admit it does look streamlined and clearer, but... I don't know, it comes across as well, sterile. Fancy futuristic fonts just don't suit a game which is technically meant to be in a neo-medieval world in my opinion.
