Having just caught up with the Dresden files, I was intrigued to discover that there was apparently a tv series about it and looked it up on youtube and the guy they cast as Harry completely didn't gel well with what I pictured.

For example see: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISK-7S7jKlY&;amp;feature=related">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISK-7S7jKlY&;amp;feature=related</a>

However, luckily, I found another video that fit quite a bit better with what I had in my mind: <a href="https://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-third-the-secret/717042";>https://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-third-the-secret/717042<;/a>

And as for the whole Ebook thing...I was really on the fence about it until my sister shoved the Kindle down my throat for Christmas and I can't quite remember how I got by without it.

I still pick up a few of the hardcovers of series and the larger type books to add to my collection but for general reading and all around convenience, I can't believe that I didn't pick one up a lot sooner.

For the Dresden Files TV show, they didn't do too bad. Sure, they didn't get the infamous car, Harry was a bit of a man whore, Susan was only there for one episode, Murphy wasn't blonde... or short, they didn't have Ebenezer... Actually, it was a pretty bad show.

But the guy who they got as Bob was just all kinds of awesome. It made up for the not so greatness of the show... somewhat.

In my opinion, if they ever try it again, they should get James Marsters as Harry Dresden. If you've listened to the audio books of the Dresden Files, then you'd understand why I would say that.

As for the trailer. That was pretty cool.

I heard a bit of the audiobook with Marsters on Youtube and I have to say that I was pretty impressed by it as well haha.

Currently reading And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie. It is far more addictive than I thought it would be. Also, bonus points for U.N. Owen. I saw the name in the title of Flandre Scarlet's theme song from the Touhou series a long time ago, ("U.N. Owen Was Her") and had assumed it was just a wacky Japanese thing playing off the word unkown, and then I saw the name quite unexpectedly used as the pseudonym for the puppet master of this book, and realized Touhou was referencing Agatha Christie, of all things. Funny how things are connected.

And of course, a Touhou song just randomly popped up on my youtube playlist while I was typing this. This kinda stuff happens all the time with me, it seems.

This was about the best AFFC + ADWD list I could find so far with a quick Google search: https://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/1516518-post7.html
Holy shit, that's all kinds of awesome. Thanks, man. Since I'm currently rereading the series on Kindle I can bookmark the start of every chapter in that order and jump from book to book quite easily.

Agatha Christie books may feel pretty outdated by today's standards, what with the sometimes ridiculous twists and somewhat flat characters, but And Then there were None (which is still called Ten Little Niggers over here) is still one of my favorite mystery novels ever. I read it for the first time when I was 12 and I've been reading it at least once a year ever since. I always find myself rooting for Vera.

Recently finished Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead by Sara Gran, which was damn near perfect hardboiled detective fiction, and The Blonde by Duane Sweirczynski, which was kind of weak compared to his other books but still insanely fun. I love Sweirczynski. One of the few authors who can make noir thrillers feel fresh and innovative.

Today I started on Rule 34 by Charles Stross, which is proving to be a pretty fun story, even if I'm not that far into it yet. Lots of delicious technobabble. It feels weird reading a novel in the second person perspective, though.

I'm attempting to read The Federalist for those not in the U.S., is a number of essays written by three very important people in politics (one a future president, the other a future secretary of finance or so I remember and so on) before the writing/implementing the Constitutuion and published as at the time in newspapers.

I'm chickening out a bit, so I think I'll just read a couple of papers at a time in between reading other books.

After how much I loved her most recent novel, I decided to grab some more Sara Gran and read Dope today, which was also really good. Especially the second half.

Still haven't finished Charles Stross's Rule 34 yet, because I keep getting distracted by reading other stuff. Aside from Dope and Rule 34 I've also been reading Christa Faust's Money Shot and Lawrence Block's Getting Off.

I seem to like books with titles that get me weird looks.

Just finished The Name of the Wind, which was fantastic. Started Ender's Game, which is good so far. Looks like it will be a quick read.

Also picked up The Earthsea Trilogy, American Gods, Ananasi Boys, and I've still got the next two Dresden books (for me, whatever is after Death Masks) sitting on the shelf. I have no idea what to read after Ender's.

I'm liking The Federalist a lot, funny, because I simply couldn't care less about politics, perhaps is the historical angle that gets me.

I'm also re-reading The Mists of Avalon, always a favorite, and I just got Mass Effect: Ascencion, weeeee!.

Officially started Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Finished the first chapter a week or so ago, just plowed down 50 more pages with out noticing the time differential. All of the 80's pop culture references you could ever hope to stand coupled with every bit of nerd nostalgia you might be able to muster and set with in a dystopian future ruled by an MMO.

I approve thus far.

Just finished A Feast for Crows

I'd heard a lot of negative things about it but I loved it. Sure it dragged a little in the beginning but I loved all the new settings and characters introduced. Euron Crow's Eye is gonna be a fierce adversary. Loved Dorne and it's atmosphere and characters. I know Brienne is a wildly unpopular character, but she grew to become my favorite "good guy" by the end of this book.
I still kinda like TV Cersei better, her hatred of Robert seemed more justified than just "I hate everyone except Jaime".
It was the first volume that introduced us to the idea that there is something much greater going on in the world that just a battle for the Iron Throne and the parts about the Citadel and Bravos were very ominous.

spoilers :
- Also, Aemon Targaryen's death was pretty heartbreaking.
- Seing Cersei's plans crumble in her own hands was awesome.
- Loved the whole necromancy thing that was hinted at with Qyburn. Frankengregor .. rise !

I rather liked AFfC, as well.  Not as dramatic as ASoS, but still good reading.

Just started ADwD.  I moved it ahead of Absolute Midnight.
