Knights of the Old Republic Collection spotted at retail

Fans of the classic single-player Star Wars RPGs may be in for a treat soon, as it appears that a "Knights of the Old Republic Collection" is incoming. Two separate retailers have listed the set, which would presumably include both KotOR and KotOR II: The Sith Lords. The collection has only been listed for the PC.

Joystiq reports that the Collection was found on GameStop's internal listings, for $19.99 and launching in July 17. The leak gained even more traction when Amazon put up a listing for the game, with the same date and price.

Both games were highly regarded, but the sequel was criticized by some fans for seeming incomplete. Shacknews has contacted LucasArts regarding the wild retail sightings, and will update as more information becomes available.

I'll still grab it... just hope it includes Yavin Station for KotOR. I'd be even more surprised if it includes the extra content for KotOR II TSL though...

I doubt it'll include any of the cut content from either game. Still, a nice collection for those who haven't played those games yet for whatever reason. Or those who want the games to be installed from a couple of DVDs instead of 4 CDs per.

I'm sure it'll be a straight repack of the first two. They do Star Wars game collections all the time (and KotOR has been in several, but never KotOR2) and that's always how it goes. Not sure why anyone thinks this is particularly big news. Now, if they've recorded parts of both games to make them modern OS friendly, then I might pay a bit more attention. But neither of them ever worked well in anything past XP, and that makes a collection even more meh.

Damn good price.  I own both KOTOR games on Xbox and either of them are worth at LEAST $20 alone.

Which reminds me, now that I'm finally playing through Mass Effect:  my first thought was how this seemed like it was supposed to be "the new KOTOR series" and I'm hoping that ME2 follows in KOTOR 2's footsteps as far as being a tweeked, better version of the first game while still maintaining the overall feel as KOTOR 2 so brilliantly did.

I'm still hoping this leads to a Kotor 2 release on Steam, or really as a digital download anywhere. Pretty much the only game I still need to keep my discs for (and still one of my all-time favorites after all these years).

Id like to see KoToR 2 hit steam as well so I dont have to pay $25 for a disc PC copy. Until then I can only replay it on X-Box.

I still have the PC version discs around somewhere.  Reminds me I sitll need to experience Kotor 2 restored, as it the original had serious potential but was obviously rushed.

Yeah I'm still not quite sure what rights issues are involved with bringing Kotor II to steam. I mean I'm aware that it was done by Obsidian and not BioWare, but you'd think LucasArts would still be the one with all the publishing/distribution rights. The first Kotor has been on steam for a while and has dropped to $2.50 and $5.00 a number of times. I still have my Kotor II discs for PC and Xbox, but yes would probably prefer to get a digital copy via steam as I've been meaning to replay it at some point.

Woohoo! I'd get it for sure if I hadn't already given it two whole playthroughs a couple months ago. If it's ever the subject of a Steam Sale anytime soon I might go for it, anyway. In any case, great news for those who don't have the discs.

(And, yes, definitely get the RCM. With it, KOTOR II is easily a Top 5-ever RPG at the bare minimum.)

I'll get it whenever it goes on sale. I already have KotoR on Steam and besides, I haven't played the second using the Restored Mod.

I have the discs already, but this is fantastic news for anyone who missed out on the PC version and doesn't want to pirate it.

Though the first KOTOR release on Steam had issues with x64 and Windows 7. Wouldn't be surprised if similar issues were present with KOTOR2. A No-CD cracked EXE is also probably inevitable, even though there aren't any actual CD's.

And yeah, get the Restored Content Mod. Even with the original endgame, KOTOR2 was one of my favorite RPGs. With the restored content, it's almost perfect.
