I think they made a good portion of the quests to encourage exploration. The thing is... you really don't need a reason to explore the world of Xenoblade.

OHSHITOHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT. I just watched the trailer. Damn. This has got me excited like Xenogears & 'saga did back in the day. Welp, looks like I'm getting a Wii U sooner than I anticipated.

I swear that the mech bay the protagonist is walking through in the first few seconds is identical to the ground floor of the Yggdrasil mech bay from Xenogears. >_>

It totally looks like that. OOMMGG the possibilities! I'm not getting my hopes up that it's actually related to Xenogears, but homages are always welcome.
