Yikes and away!

Isn't it Zack Snyder directing?

While I'm sure Ben Affleck will be fine in the role, he's just not visually who I picture Bruce Wayne/Batman to be.

Here's something funny.

Rifftrax called it during their riff of Daredevil.

The hatred of this casting is one of the most goddamn retarded things I've ever seen online. Great choice.

*ding ding ding*

We have a winner. That's the only reason that I'm objecting to his casting, not his acting skills.

I don't hate Affleck like most, but I don't see him as Bruce Wayne at all.  It doesn't really matter though as Man of Steel was Cinematic Still Birth, and they could add every BATMAN Actor donning the Cape in the movie and I wouldn't expect much.  In fact I would rather have a Too Many BATMANS movie.  I can see the trailer now...Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck ARE BATMAN!  I bet that would make more money than what there planning.  Have Jstin Bieber to pay one of the Robin's to bring in the tween girl cash.  It would be just like the Expendables except with dudes running around going "I'm BATMAN" instead of '80s action heros.

I know how they work

And they're failing epicly because they have no consistency within their universe. Ben Affleck was already Daredevil, that should automatically disqualify him from playing Batman.

Daredevil is Marvel.  Batman is DC.  No universal inconsistency.

Besides, I think that's a dumb argument to begin with.  We would never have had Chris Evans as Cap since he already played the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies.

As for Affleck, I actually like the guy quite a bit and think he gets a bad rap.  Admittedly he's not in any way how I image Batman or Bruce Wayne, but I'll reserve judgement until I see it.

Yeah true on both accounts but I too was againts the idea of Evans being Captain America because he already played a Superhero in the big screen. And I have always firmly beieved that a actor or actress should only attatch themselves to one comic book franchise in their careers.

Of there's no ethical reason not to potray two comic book characters but I see things from a Hollywood perspective back then. Remember there was a time where Actors would not want to do these kind of movies. Alec Guiness doesn't see his work that highly in Star Wars and in the 90's and Harrison Ford has always wanted to distance himself from the franchise. You don't want to be attatched to a franchise too much since you are playing roles whose popularity is more on the established character due to followings Comic Book characters.

Given that more and more franchises are being adapted, that will never happen as it severely limits their career options.

Jessica Alba did Sin City after Fantastic Four.
Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson did Marvel movies after The Spirit.
Jon Favreau did Iron Man after Daredevil.
Michael Clarke Duncan did Sin City after Daredevil.
Natalie Portman did Thor after V for Vendetta.
Tommy Lee Jones did Captain America after Batman Forever.

In many cases their second movie is far better than their first movie. I don't see why they shouldn't be given that opportunity.

Yeah but they're are so many comic movies coming out that if you had no interest in doing a second franchise your chances to act really taper off.  Is it really any of the actors/directors fault that Marvel whored out it's properties before taking charge of there own destiny.  Speaking of which, I can't believe people are still exicted about being in The Amazing SPIDER-MAN sequels.  I figure they would want to be in the proper Marvel film where the material is loved and respected, and not in the dog crap Sony is pumping out to make a buck.

For what it's worth, I personally think Chris Evans is miscast as Cap. I personally would prefer Brad Pitt over him.

I wonder how people reacted to Val Kilmer being cast as Batman. If this reaction to Ben Affleck is any clue.....

Yea, I agree.  Evans was a good Torch, I thought.  He does the cocky, charismatic character a lot more naturally than the stoic leader type. I thought he was the best part of an otherwise dreadful Fantastic Four movie.  Not that he was awful as Captain America, I just bought him as Torch.
