I think this topic (the reviews) should have it's own thread. Hope the admins see it that way too.

My question for the people that have the game: Do you feel what I feel?

Grand Theft Auto V is the real deal and I've never found myself more immersed in a video game as this. It does live up to the hype, and is incredibly funny! I've tried to play so far driving speed limits and legit etc just to see how the worlds AI could deliver in terms of realism. The result has exceeded my hopes for the game. This kills TLOU for game of year in my book, which I didn't think it would. If you haven't bought it yet, it is more than a 10/10 game.

Anyone else madly in love?

TEH DISCORD CREW~

"Fuck GTA" is a little harsh.  "Meh, GTA" is probably more appropriate.  III was a lot of fun to screw around with, but the actual missions and stuff never had much appeal for me.   And then IV came along, making you take NPCs out on dates for some reason.  So... meh, GTA.

I suppose, being so soon, this opinion may be subject to change.  But I feel pretty confident in saying that GTAV is the game people who were disappointed by IV were waiting for all along.

Deep Water Horizon

I'm really more of a "Maybe later, GTA", but I guess option #2 is closest.

Currently playing: Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, Picross DS
Last played: Time Hollow (good)
Last watched: Agent Carter (very good)

I voted for the fuck GTA but really it's more a 'meh'  like Spoony, al least till the PC port is released. I've really lost interest in the series, Vice City being the last one i really enjoyed.

Guess i prefer the wacky aspect of open world games, and right now Saints Row 4 is doing it for me.

I will get this game but not yet I will be busy with NHL 14 and Diablo III for now. I am seeing a lot of 10's in gamng review sites but the last game that got a buttload of 10's was The Last of Us and I felt the game had too many flaws to warrant that score (if The Last of Us was reviewed in 1997 no way that game would get those perfect scores).

I kind of feel that GTAV will probably have a good number of flaws that does not warrant the praise it's getting. But I guess I need to play it to find out.

HALE YEAH

I'm not particularly interested in GTA if there aren't horses involved. Also, I'm sick of Rockstar's sandbox being a goddamn manbox.

Sounds pretty great from what I've heard but I'm in no rush. Probably going to pick it up in a couple weeks to kill time until BF4.

Jesus tapdancing Christ the game has made 800 million worldwide its first day.

That's a lot of dough. Even though I don't really give two figs about the series myself. Congradualtions to Rockstar.

Insert witty remark here.

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
Getting high on some pretty potent dope and killing aliens with a minigun
and an awesome homage to a scene from Lethal Weapon 2, I think I can say that my money was well spent.  Also, so far its nice to see that the game isn't as serious as GTA4.

I'm part of the maybe later crowd. I'll probably get the PC version eventually during a sale.

The Saints Row series and Sleeping Dogs have pretty much completely eclipsed the Grand Theft Auto series in my mind, so it's not nearly as much of a must-play as it would have been five years ago.

I am still waiting for a Sandbox game that actually feels like an open world game instead of a game with a big open world. What I mean is that a game which your actions really affects the world around you instead of just a sandbox with many of the same missions to tackke. I think Infamous and Fallout New Vegas were the games that comes close to doing thing. I haven't played a Rockstar game that really does that (though I might recall San Andreas might have these elements) and Skyrim had the same problems as well.

I am hoping GTAV changes that and, because of all the love is getting, revolutionizes that aspect of the Sandbox Open World.

I can sort of almost understand that argument after GTAIV (though I think it's better than SR and SD, those games are weak enough on their own merits) but with V it's like Rockstar have gone out of their way a thousandfold to show who the real daddy is and always was in the genre.

I actually wasn't that disappointed with IV, I'm just kind of sick of a lot their formula in general. Like I said, I am going to play it eventually, but if you honestly thought the titles I mentioned are weak than I think we just have very different taste in games.

SD had potential but it limited itself much more than GTA in terms of scope.  Not a problem in itself but what it did focus on was never really more than mediocre at best.  SR had a novelty factor for about five minutes, then it just became apparent how slapdash and unfulfilling the whole thing was.  And that's like back at no2...3 and 4 are simply abysmal.
