They finally listened!

This might be too little too late, but this is the best possible change they could make.  Diablo 3 wasn't necessarily a bad game.  Overall it felt fine, but having to go to the AH to pick up anything worthwhile for my character (and picking up class-specific items that had tons of stats that had NOTHING to do with me) were frustrating enough to make me quit and never pick it up since getting to Inferno on a Monk.

Honestly, I find this more exciting news about this game and series than the expansion itself.

Edit: damn, I thought I put this in general gaming.  Sorry about that >.<
How does one go about deleting an original?

AH wasn't the worst part for me. Worst part was having to play the same short campaign with its horrendous story through 3 times to get to the difficulty i wanted on every single character.

When i can make a lvl 1 toon playing Inferno, and stop making me log in i might care again. All that said i did reinstall it recently, wanted to finish it on inferno, never did kill Belial.

I'm with Som on this. The AH was easy to ignore. The drop progression, possibly motivated to be so by the AH, was what made it awful. Along with the extremely uneven difficulty. Add to that the loss of the classic Diablo tone of doom and there you have failure. The terribly flawed and failed AH and RMAH were just a nail. I think they could have pulled off the AH & RMAH if they wanted to. And likely has already been said, this won't stop grey market sales, the AH in both forms will live on.

Well, yes, the auction house was exactly why drops were the way they were.  No matter what Blizzard says, if drops were the way they are now, the AH would not have existed.  The game wouldn't work.

And yes, the campaign story was horrendous.  I would have preferred less story.  Diablo turning into a Scooby Doo villain really killed it for me.

Apparently still online only, though. WTF?

Funny that all of this is tied to the reception the console versions have had. I had people telling me it was what D3 should have been on PC. I went through D3 a lot in the first month or so and haven't looked back beause the drop rate was horrendous. I'd play for a few levels, start having a tough time, go to the AH and realize my gear was shit, buy new gear, rinse, repeat. It was mind-numbing and such a let-down after D2.

Yeah I am flippin pumped for loot 2.0 and am checking every day to see when the release date is.  Unfortunately I'm betting it won't be until the auction house is closed at least.

Hey guys, while you wait for the update that might make this game playable, check out The Book of Tyrael, coming out soon... I made some art for it :D (plus it has a bunch of incredibly badass art from badass artists)

Moved thread to Gen Gaming.

This is really for the best for diablo. The RMAH being gone especially. Looking forward to Loot 2.0, but if I had to guess it won't be implemented until the new expansion (which does look really good; looking forward to Crusader) launches.

I want to go back.

I got an email to this effect a few days ago and deleted it immediately, assuming it was some scam. I can't believe they're actually going through with it.

I'm not sure anything they do could get me to have another pass at Diablo 3, though. I think I'm kind of done with Blizzard's game design.

Insert witty remark here.

Honestly, the only reason I was able to get through Diablo 3 for a second time was because by that time my friends had gotten it and we all grouped and played through it.  The story and dialogue is just...it's just so damn bad.

Never used the auction house so this has no effect on me, but I have head enough people bitch about it that I'm happy it's going away just for the fact that it's one less thing for people to bitch about.

Unless they also scrap out the always-online requirement, D3 can go blow itself.

Diablo's story has never been good or even average. I don't know why people expected any different from D3.
