Big Tall
Taller Than Tall

I debated getting it over the past few months, but on launch day I picked it up without hesitation. It's been the best $60 I've spent on a game this year. The vehicles handle much better (not that I had a huge issue with IV, but they did feel more like boats at time), and there's a lot more types. I love having a garage to store a half dozen vehicles each per character, though I've heard there are some issues with them not saving properly if you take one out and crash it or something. The customization is something I haven't touched yet, but want to. The three guys have their own default vehicles that pop up quite often.

The world itself just feels a lot better. I love the random events that happen around you, the traffic is good, and is it sad that I'm impressed by the pavement textures? Seriously, they did a great job with that. I can take some time to traverse the map, but it hasn't been a big pain.

Money has been a bit of an issue only because there's so much to spend it on. From properties to investments, to upgrades and the like, you can use as much money as you can find/steal.

Which brings me to the heists. LOVE them. Options on how you want to approach a job? Check. Ability to gain henchmen and level up their skills? Check. Pick weaker guys for a job which means they'll want less of a cut? Check. Can doing taht fuck up the heist? Yep. My only complaint is I'm about 40% through the game and I've only had 3.

The character switching is seamless. You see how many missions each person has. Trevor is insanely brilliant. Two moments/conversations that had me in tears laughing:

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
When he and Wade head to Los Santos for the first time and Trevor is explaining his past with Michael. The second is the hipster conversation with Trevor and Michael.

I could keep going on, but needless to say I was on the fence about this and after playing for 20-ish hours I don't know why I ever was.

^ From what I heard prior to launch there aren't too many heists, I wanna say 9 or so but my memory is fuzzy on the number.

Game sounds even better than I expected, might have to jump the gun here. Sounds like they Red Deaded it up a bit which is not a bad thing.

Dangerous Zombie

I already like it way more than IV, but its not pulling me away from FFXIV ARR so there is that too.

Buggle Up! Danger! Danger! (Genocide!) Death the Crisis! Dangerous Zombie!

That's a fairly good analogy. One thing I like is how the health bar works. If you drop below 50%, it'll regen back to that after a few seconds. Cuts down on having to eat food and such all the time, though it means I'm almost always running around with half health.

Also, if you die, you lose $5,000, but you keep your weapons and ammo. It gets rid of one of my major annoyances with IV.

Crono
Crono can cross dimensions too!

If anyone doesn't have it yet, Toys R Us is having a 20% off ALL video games sale.  Buy online, ship to store, purchase at store, whatever; you can nab a copy for about 50 bucks after tax through tomorrow.  I'm REALLY considering getting it but I just don't want to have to buy the same game twice (got it as a gift for someone ages ago).

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

One thing I forgot to say is the radio stations suck. I listen to the classic rock one for a lack of a better alternative. The punk stations isn't bad, but the newer rock one is just BLEH. And metal? None.

I've enjoyed the radio a bunch, I think they've outdone themselves with the variety. A Metal station would have been cool, but I don't care for it so I'm not bothered.

And a tip for people wanting to make money in the game:
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
You can manipulate the market with Lesters Assassination missions. Once you start the mission and he tells you which stock is going to go up load your last auto save state and buy that stock on all three characters. Once the mission is completed the stock will thrive and you should hear a radio news alert talking about it, after that alert the stock will go back down slowly. So for best profit sell as soon as you hear the message.

There's a good variety, sure, but apart from the classic rock station there isn't one that I want to listen to for more than a select song or two.

Genitals are Funny

I said this in a much ruder way on another board.

but people actually listen to the music on the radio stations? I've always just listened to my own music station thing or whatever the comedy channel is.

I'ev always tuned into the radio stations. I can't imagine GTAIV without Liberty Rock Radio or Liberty City Hardcore. Can't remember the ones I listened to in other GTA games, but yeah I listen. The talk radio stuff is great as well. In GTAV you can get some good stock tips by listening to the Weasel News breaks.

Good Boy

They struck gold with Vice City's 80s setting, the radio has been shit in all GTAs since.

Didn't care much for 3's or 4's stations, but I loved the selections in Vice City and San Andreas.

I dunno, killing people to opera music in 3 was pretty fun. :P Also liked the station with the Scarface soundtrack on it.

But yeah, VIce City and San Andreas were the best in that department overall.

Cult of Personality
Insert witty remark here.

I honestly just turn the radio off.  It always seemed to be a distraction, plus the fact I could never find anything I liked probably soured my opinion of it.

On a completely unrelated note, is anyone else having major difficulties flying the helicopter?  I have the flying skill maxed out but I'll be damned if I can fly it without it appearing as if I just came out of an all night pub crawl.

Not even Saints Row can get helicopters right. And generally SR's controls crap all over GTA's. Mind you I haven't played V yet.
