The King's orders are absolute

Hey everybody, this is Fenix Down and welcome to Let's Play Mega Man 5!

I have a lot of fond memories of playing this game as a kid so I felt it was a good choice to go with as I decide on what my next RPG LP should be. The story is pretty much your usual straightforward NES platformer plot: evil robots are running around destorying the world and you must defeat them to save the world. However, in Mega Man 5's case, it appears the leader of these robots is Mega Man's older brother Proto Man, who to make matters worse, decides to kidnap their creator Dr. Light. Can Mega Man stand up to his brother and save Dr. Light? Let's find out!

In the opening episode, Mega Man goes through the first two Robot Master stages. Unfortunately, it seems my recording method has dropped a lot of sprite flickers, so there were be times where it looks like parts of the enemies or Mega Man himself will just disappear. I cannot do anything about that and I suspect if I were to rerecord the LP, I would get the same result again. I hope this does not detract from the enjoyment of the LP and thank you very much for watching!

It's probably that the game runs in 60 fps and you're recording at 30.  It's a common issue I've noticed with twitch streamers.  Recording/broadcasting at 60 is tough to nail down and expensive from what I've heard.

I actually just played and beat MM5 for the first time this past month and it was my least favorite of the series so far (I've yet to play VI).  It's not nostalgia either because MM2 was the only one I played as a kid.  The general consensus ofmegaman games is a downhill enjoyment from 2/3 on.  I mean, it wasn't BAD, although the final boss was very underwhelming compared to anything else in the series.  Either way, enjoy your playthrough.

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

Yeah, that definitely makes sense. That's most likely the reason for the issues. Thanks.

I definitely wouldn't make any claims that MM5 is the best in the series or even one that comes to mind when I think about that. But I do enjoy it for what it is. It's been a long time since I last played MM6 so I can't remember how well it holds up.

Part 2 of the Mega Man 5 Let's Play. This is an eight-part series so I'm thinking I'll be uploading episodes Mon-Thurs. this week and next. In today's episode, we tackle two more Robot Masters.

I thought it was Mega Man 6 where Capcom picked the robot from the fans?

Actually, that was done in other earlier games as well but it was the first time they let choices be decided by NA fans as well.  For MM6 6 masters were designed by J fans and 2 were NA fans.

It's exactly as Crono said, MM6 was the first time they accepted submissions from overseas. I believe it was Knight Man and Wind Man that were designed by fans from NA. According to the Mega Man & Mega Man X Complete Works 25th Anniversary edition, they got about 200,000 entries to choose from for MM6. From the same book, it seems they accepted Robot Master designs as far back as Mega Man 2 with 8,370 total entries submitted in Japan. I can only imagine how many more they would have gotten if the internet was around for public use back then.

We have Mega Man in spaaaace! And he also catches a train.
