Keyboard control failure.

So lately I've been having issues with my computer freezing and locking up. And not being able to wake my computer monitor up from sleep. So I ran a memtest on my computer to diagnose any problems figuring it had to do with my memory or my hard drive. Luckily it was neither of those in the test but it came up with a failure on the keyboard controller.
Looking this up I found out it was pretty much the controller that sent information back and forth to the motherboard on what the keyboard and possibly the mouse is doing.

Now my question is could this failure be what's causing my computer to lock up and not being able to wake it up from sleep?

It could be, sure.  But it would be one strange reason why.  The keyboard controller is built into the southbridge, and has been for nigh-on twenty years.  A failing keyboard controller is a failing southbridge, which in turn is a failing motherboard.

You might enter the BIOS on bootup and look for a "Gate A20" option somewhere. Flip it ( Fast to Normal or vise-versa) and see if that fixes it.  (History note: pin A20 on the keyboard controller was once used to regulate memory access speed on the original IBM XT.  The option is still around today, but shouldn't actually do anything.)

(I've never had a motherboard with UEFI instead of a BIOS, and a lot of those old legacy options were never implemeted in UEFI, so this option might not exist if your computer is new enough)

Is a bad mother board going to cause the computer to lock up and the other issues I've been having? It sounds like that would be a major issue.

Yeah, depending on exactly how the motherboard is failing, constant crashing is definitely a symptom.  However, let's not assume that this is the reason why.  Lots of things can cause constant crashes.

Start Menu > "eventvwr.msc" > "Windows Logs" > "System", list the error codes for everything with a red error circle (should be in the format of 0xNNNNNNNN)

I'm looking through that and I do see errors. But I don't really know what they mean or what I'm looking for in particular.

I want to try Teamviewer, so I can take a gander at the error codes myself.  I've PMed you with instructions.

So my comp is still having a problem. Even though I thought we disabled sleep mode or checking for sleep mode my computer still locks up when my monitor goes to sleep and still locks up on me at random.

Not sure what we can try next. Do you think the mother board still could have a problem when my monitor goes to sleep mode?
