^They get better as time goes by.  Both in terms of becoming less annoying in general, but they become more sympathetic characters as well.

Oh man, around the later parts of Chapter 2 and my characters are already at level 52. This is FFV all over again.

Still in Chapter 1 (but I think I'm approaching Chapter 2) and my guys are all lvl 20-21ish; I'm glad I have the option to turn exp off from time to time if I want.

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
Also, I don't know if it's a result of having played too many JRPGs, if it's just really obvious or if I'm really good, but I think I figured out a thing. I'm not sure of the how or why, but I'm pretty sure I've figured out the who/what.

I must run from a lot of battles then since I'm in chapter 3 but my characters are all only level 41

^If you're running away from battles, why not simply lower the encounter rate?

To be fair, I only got to be that level because I've been JP farming right in front of Florem while at work. Like I said, it's FFV all over again.

Oh I do but really only when, for the sake of time management or preserving health, I need to power through an area. Otherwise, I leave it at +-0%.

Man, I need to get back into this game.  I've been distracted by so many titles lately it isn't even funny.

So Sigh Ety

I can't believe nobody complained about this game re-using:: (post chapter 5 spoilers)

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
the same exact dialogue That's just laugh out loud funny that we are to believ ethe characters wouldn't have different reactions seeing the same thing a 2nd time like "Okay okay lets get to business" instead of pretending to be surprised and shit. Ridiculous
. Game's still fun thanks to the amazing gameplay.

I agree Spidey. I just hit chapter 5 and it seems like its just padding the game out now... Still a great game, but unless it does something to redeem itself its become very annoying and tedious.

Oh man, I've been hearing of so many bad things regarding Chapters 5-8 or something that I think I should just get on with this so I can get the whole thing over with. I think I'm on the tail-end of Chapter 4, just prepping to awaken the Earth Crystal.

To be fair, the repetition is most severe in the four Guardian boss fights. There are plenty of secondary boss fights with old bosses that shake it up sufficiently to give you a good time. And to be honest if you're going to go through all the trouble of fighting those Guardian bosses four times each, you might as well clear the whole game out.

I finished the game a couple of days ago. The second part actually did not bother me and I have no fucking idea why some people say it's very bad when it honestly works with the plot and the system is good enough that you can finish each those chapters off in a little over two hours if you're decked enough. With the battle system, it's not hard either.

In short, those areas can be really frustrating if the battle and gameplay systems suck, but they don't.
