I think I'm gonna like what they're doing with the series, but to me the heart of the Silent Hill series isn't about the scary monsters and the environments.  It's about watching the pscyhological trauma of the main character unfold over the course of the game until we finally discover the truth about their problems and how fucked up their life or somebody else's life really is.  If they implement this with what I've seen of the demo, it could blow the rest of the series out of the water.

I think that's the plan given the title and the experience so far.

Every person's experience playing the demo has been very different. Given that the title is Silent Hills it might mean that every player will experience their own personal hell.

Shit, if it's that, then I will be buying a PS4 much sooner than expected.

Here's a full video walkthrough.

Things start getting messed up after 10/15 minutes.

I jumped out of my chair at the 20 min mark and stopped watching shortly after.

Definitely getting a Silent Hill vibe from the concept once you go further into the demo.

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
The marks on the wall indicate that this is hell for the main character - he's done it hundreds of times.

I could only play it for about 20 minutes today. It was giving me horrible motion sickness. I know it's more "realistic" but the bobbing camera can go fuck itself. I went through the loop 9 or 10 times and the only "scary" thing that happened was a baby crying. When that happened I had no where to go, even though I went back and forth about 5 times trying to trigger something happening. Being somewhat stuck and motion sick I just turned it off. I know it's got a random element in there but I'm not just gonna walk up and down the hall for 5 min waiting for something to happen.

Ugh. Shaky cam? That's why I had to quit Tomb Raider on PS4. Realistic backgrounds and shaky cam makes me nauseous.

I didn't have that problem with Tomb Raider, but I think I get it here because it's First Person. The only time I get motion sickness from games is usually First Person View when either the FOV is some wonky setting or the camera moves too fast or bobs.

You don't wait for stuff to happen you have to trigger events each loop. Poking holes in pictures, examinging things, etc.

Yeah I tried everything except for L3/R3, which is apparently what I needed to do. I was pressing all the other buttons at the bathroom door.

Still, with the motion sickness, I probably won't replay. I'd only be able to do it in 10 to 15 min bursts.
