The corporate speak kinda suggests that when KH3 is done Nomura's out.

The trailer actually looks pretty good, so someone's got to get a little credit from me on that.

Replaced by Hajime Tabata, who directed Type-0. I see this as a huge and necessary step in the right direction.

I don't hate Nomura like some other people, but Tabata did a good job with Crisis Core so we should still be okay.  As long as it isn't Toriyama (worst Squeenix director ever) we should be okay.

I've been there, hombre.

Wow, doesn't it seem kinda late to be changing directors? Though I guess the same thing happened with XII relatively late in the game...

I've heard good things about Type 0, so I hope this bodes well. The trailer was a little too FF: Roadtrip, but I'm still interested.

It's not like Nomura works in a different company now.  I'm sure those two still talk to each other!

None, according to FF Wiki (or at least, none of the main series titles - he's mostly just directed spin offs and tie-ins like KH, which is his pet series) - usually he's been credited as character designer. To be honest, I don't hate him really that much as more his obssession with raver gear, leather belts and spiky hair is starting to wear a bit thin, which seems to be more of the same in that trailer.

Motomu Toriyama on the other hand, just may be the worst game designer on the planet whom should migrate to the US and join EA, as he'd fit right in there. ;)

I have to admit the trailer looks good. This could very well be the direction the series needs to go in order to be revitalized.

On one hand, I agree.

On the other hand, where da ladies at, Squenix?

Wait, so all the androgynous males don't count?

I believe those dudes were talking about some female characters in the trailer. Also keep in mind that it's only a trailer, and the final product could very well change and have female characters in there early and often.

Let's not put Squeenix quite on the same level as Ubisoft just yet.

Yeah, it's more an opinion about the trailer than a presumption about the game itself.

Well...it's pretty.

I honestly can't find anything else compelling about it, though.  Maybe it's just me, but...fneh.

Tabata becoming director this far into the gazillion year development process probably won't do a whole much as far as creative direction goes. But hey, at least it isn't Toriyama, who I still wonder how he manages to have a job.
