Hankering for some good JRPG

It seems to be eons since I played a new JRPG (the last one being Valkyria Chronicles).  And for a while I have been yearning to get my hands on one.  Strangely enough, it feels somewhat the same as craving for a juicy steak.  Or maybe I've just been depriving myself that long?

Anyway, could anyone suggest a good PS3 JRPG I can occupy myself with the next couple of weeks?  (though maybe not so much any sequel to FFXIII since I haven't finished that one yet)

Dragon Age Origins. I know it's not a jrpg, but it's one of my favorite rpg's of last gen.

On PS3: Anything from the Tales series will help you.  If you are willing to branch out a small amount...

Play Transistor.  It's got the good stuff from a JRPG, although it would probably be classified in its own genre world.  It's on Steam and PS4 I think.

If you have done that, try Lost Odyssey.

If you have done that play any Dragon Quest title, but especially IV, V, or VIII.  (Incidentally modern PCs can emulate both PS2 and DS, in case your old consoles are in a box somewhere...)

If you have done that, replay Chrono Trigger.

If you have done that, grab a Pokemon game.

Child of Light is Canadian made, but in the style of a JRPG. It's also really, really good.

Everybody else already took my picks.  Those jerks.

I'd recommend the Y's games, personally.

Also, Tears to Tiara 2 is a surprisingly good game.

Valkyria Chronicles and the Tales of Xillia are my suggestions, and they're both taken already soooooooooooo I'm out.

Here's the trailer, which instantly wowed me. I just downloaded this one and can't wait to get into it.

How long have I been out of the game?  Haven't even heard about most of these titles.  Anyway thanks for the suggestions everyone.  I now have reason to live again.

I thought your reason to live was your attempt to create a budding writing career, where some day, you can be officially commissioned to do the work you've always wanted.

A story where Quistis was the main character from Final Fantasy VIII.

...Hell, I'd pay for that.

But more seriously, if you have a Vita, I'd recommend Tales of Hearts R, if you're a fan of the series.

More like a sequel.  FFVIII-2, subtitled: "Where Quistis is so much more heroic than everyone else she could be considered the main character".
(That said, believe it or not UFF is not dead yet, even though it appears so)

About "Tales Of", I've heard many things about it (some bad, mostly good) and have been thinking about starting with the series for a while now.  But since I still don't have a Vita, I'm eyeing Tales of Xillia as my entry point and then work my way down.

I haven't started it yet, but from everything I hear, Terra Battle is great. It's a mobile game by Sakaguchi. Also free up to a certain point so you can decide if you like it before paying.

I don't know, I think Symphonia might be a better entry point to the Tales series.  I loved Symphonia, but just couldn't get into Xillia.

Fuck Shit Stack.

I don't know if you have a wii, but if you do you need to play xenoblade. I think it's the best rpg of the last generation.

I've been playing through the Tales games lately. I'm taking a break from it right now so I don't get tired of the sereis (they can be pretty same-y), but I haven't played a bad one yet.

Symphonia would be a good entry point. The Playstation fan translation of Phantasia, too. I haven't gotten to Xillia yet so I dunno about that one. Symphonia is apparently what got most Tales fans into the series.

My entry point was Tales of Destiny like 12 years ago and I still love it but it doesn't hold up as well as I'd hoped.
