Some quick thoughts on the Royal Rumble:

- The card up to the Triple Threat match was totally forgetable.

- Philly hates the shit out of Cena...actually most of the Northeast part of the country Cena really doesn't get many positive reactions.  Rollins was over with Philly.  Lesnar was WAY over.  The match itself is probably one of the better triple threat matches I've ever seen and they continue to put Lesnar over as the beast he should be treated as.

- Philly was very happy to see Bubba Ray Dudley back at a WWE event.  I'm curious if it was a one off thing or if he's back with the company in some capacity.

- Yeah, I popped for DDP.  Dunno why, but I always like him.

- Fans took a complete shit on the Rumble the second Daniel Bryan got eliminated.  And man, did Philly do a double shit on Roman Reigns.  I felt bad for the guy cause he's only doing his job, but the Philly fans, and I think fans in generally don't want to see Reigns in the main event yet.  Hell, even The Rock couldn't lend him any good will.  The people want Bryan.  They've wanted Bryan as the main guy for the last two years and never really got it cause almost as soon as he won the chamionship he went out with an injury.  9 months did absolutely nothing the diminish the love the WWE universe has for Daniel Bryan.  He consistantly gets the loudest cheers out of everyone on the roster.  Honestly, Vince needs to get whoever's dick is in his ear out and just give the people what they want.  Cause unless things change, Roman Reigns might be going into Wrestlemania getting booed out the building in favor of Lesnar.  Also, I'm pretty sure no one gives a shit about Big Show and Kane.  No offense to either wrestler, but they've flipped flop back and forth between face and heel the the crowd literraly doesn't give a shit about them.

Overall, the Triple Threat was awesome and the rest of the event was a complete waste of time.  Not a good start going into Wrestlemania season.

My thoughts is quicker simply it was embarassing, and I am not watching WM31 this year.  Lesnar (part time guy) vs. Reigns (not yet over guy) as the main event is a joke. The fact that The Rock couldn't save Reigns shows how far away he is from being even considered to be a main event guy.

As much as I agree with you, I don't want Bryan anywhere near the title picture while Lesnar is still holding it. Putting Bryan in a match with Lesnar is a quick way to end his career.

Not that I want to see Lesnar vs Reigns though. They need to add something to that match, just keep Bryan away from a title chase until Lesnar has dropped the belt and left.
Personally I'd restart the Rollins-Ambrose feud, since it never got a decent conclusion, and find some way to add them to the main event making it a four way.

Not that it matters though, you know the second Lesnar looses the belt, he's destroying the new champ and we're getting a Rollin's cash in.

I know how they work

I'm not much of a Daniel Bryan fan.  Maybe it's because I missed the entirety of his pre-injury run, but in the few clips I saw of him he came off as whiny and entitled.  I don't dislike him, but so far he's done nothing to make an impact on me other than yelling "Yes!" over and over.  As a result, I didn't care when he got eliminated.  But as proof of just how shitty the Rumble match was, I still was pissed by the end.  For me, it was the way Big Show and Kane just walked around throwing out Ziggler, Wyatt and Ambrose like they were bags of trash.  What a perfect visual for how the WWE treats its rising stars who don't fit into Vince's mold: getting punked out by two enormous veterans who really should've left the ring a while back.

I thought I'd post in this thread and ask, is anyone here a fan of NJPW at all?  I was an old school WCW fan and went with TNA for awhile, but I've gotten into NJPW over the years and am pretty excited about what Jeff Jarrett is doing with GFW.  It might be worth making a separate thread if so.  I'd contribute to the WWE discussion, but I haven't followed it all since the Monday Night Wars.

I'm 50/50 on a Lesnar & Bryan match.  On one hand, Brock does work extremely stiff with his opponents which probably wouldn't be the best for a recently returned Bryan.  On the other hand, the wrestling fan in me thinks Lesnar and Bryan could have one hell of a match.  I remember the match Lesnar had with Punk and it really was a match of the year candidate.

I don't dislike Reigns, but he definitely isn't ready for a main event Wrestlemania match.  He definitely can be a main eventer in the future, he just needs a little more seasoning.  I'd love for them to add both Rollins and Ambrose to the mix and make it a fatal four way, but that definitely won't happen cause Vince doesn't see Ambrose as a main eventer despite the crowd being heavily behind him.  Honestly, just adding Rollins to the match would be a big plus cause he definitely proved at the Rumble that he can hang in the main event picture.  Unfortunately if you believe what the dirtsheets say, he's heading into a program with Orton for Wrestlemania.

My apologies for the double post, but considering the length of time between the two posts I don't think it'll be a huge issue.  For those fellow wrestling fans on the site who may be unaware, Wrestlemania is this Sunday.  Have to be completely honest, this has probably been one of the worst Wrestlemania builds I've seen for quite sometime.  I'm going to do the typical internet prediction stuff, so bare with me and feel free to comment with your own thoughts.

Fatal Four Way Tag Team Championship Match - Tyson Kidd and Cesaro (c)  vs. Los Matadores vs. The New Day vs. The Usos

It's a shame Vince doesn't care about the tag team division at all, which is apparent considering this match is going to be on the pre-show.  Unfortunately, the crowd doesn't care about Los Matadores and The New Day (again, they haven't been given a reason to care) so I don't expect them to win.  The Usos are entertaining to watch, but for me Tyson Kidd and Cesaro are even more entertaining and as such I predict them to win.  As a side note, glad to see Cesaro go from winning last year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal to not even being on the main show itself.  I guess if he wasn't Swiss he'd be a bigger star?  At least that's Vince McMahon's reasoning (I shit you not, listen or watch Steve Austin's podcast with McMahon).

Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins

This could have been a better build if they didn't waste 3 weeks pretending Randy Orton was back with the Authority to get at Seth Rollins.  It was a stupid idea, and every moment of tv time it wasted made me feel stupid.  Orton is still damn solid in the ring, and Seth is excellent so I think the two will have a very good match if given the chance.  That being said, I'd really like the feud to go for another month or two so I hope Rollins picks up the win here.  Also, I wish they'd let Orton be a true tweener.  He's extremely boring as a straight face and isn't much better as a heel.  He is best when he only looks after himself and attacks everyone.  Let him be that going forward.

AJ Lee and Paige vs. The Bella Twins

It's very interesting that the Diva's tag match is one of the best built matches on the card.  I'm sure as hell that it wasn't by design, it just so happens that the rest of the matches have been built up that poorly.  That being said, I am not a fan of the Bellas.  At all.  Not even a little.  And you know what, most of the WWE Universe doesn't give a shit about them either.  Let's go back to SummerSlam when Brie took on Stephanie McMahon.  You know who the crowd cheered for?  Stephanie.  That's right, Stephanie McMahon who is one of the biggest heels in WWE got cheered over the wife of Danial Bryan (whom they made absolutely sure the WWE Universe knew they were married).  That's how little the crowd cares for the Bellas.  The only reason they get so much time and are at the top of the Diva's division is because of Total Divas.  I'm sorry, but I'm willing to place serious money that less than half of the Total Divas audience caries over to Raw or Smackdown.  I've wasted enough time on this match.  AJ and Paige are the best Divas on the main roster and I'm picking them to win cause they sure as hell should.

The Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt

Undertaker losing 2 years in a row?  Seriously doubt it.  It's a shame too, cause Bray Wyatt deserves ALL the credit for whatever buildup this match has had in the eyes of the fans.  The Undertaker has been purposefully kept off tv according to the online news sites, so Bray has been the one drilling out promos week after week to try build anticipation.  Bray Wyatt is excellent of the mic, good in the ring, and more importantly there isn't anyone in the WWE like him.  He could be a legit main eventer if the company got solidly behind him.  For whatever reason they don't, and I think Wyatt is laying down for the dead man.

United States Championship Match - Rusev (c) (with Lana) vs. John Cena

I like that Cena is being used in the United States Chaimpionship match and has said he wants to beat Rusev to be US Champion.  This has been the highest profile feud the the US Title has been involved in in a long time.  Honestly, I think Rusev should win.  There is an incredibly big upside to Rusev.  He's a big guy who is very agile for his size, and is very solid in the ring.  The only thing that's holding him back is the crappy Russia gimmick he has, but that's Vince's fault for still thinking it's the cold war (Not saying present day Russia is awesome, but anything involving Rusev feels like Rocky 4).  Just let the man be a big brute of a monster and beat people down.  Shockingly enough, that will get someone over on its own.  With all that being said, I expect Cena to win and be the "first" to beat Rusev's streak of not being pinned or being made to submit.  I just hope what happened with Bray Wyatt last year in his feud with Cena doesn't happen to Rusev this time around.

André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

I don't think most people care about this match.  Shocking, considering its barely been mentioned on TV at all so why should people care about it?  If you believe the online news sites, Sheamus is supposed to redebut at Wrestlemania in this match.  If that's the case, it makes sense that he wins it.  Cause if he doesn't, what the hell was the point?  If Sheamus isn't in it, Damien Mizdow FINALLY (FINALLY) turns on the Miz and wins the Battle Royal.  Considering Cesaro's career path since winning it though, does anyone really want to win it?

Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match - Bad News Barrett (c) vs. R-Truth vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Stardust vs. Daniel Bryan

Too many guys in this match.  Why is Stardust in the match?  Same with R-Truth?  No offense to either of them, but I think its pretty apparent to the crowd that those 2 aren't really on the same level as the other guys.  And while we're at it, why the hell has the champion lost almost every match he's been in in the weeks leading up to this match?  How the hell does that make your champion look strong?  Why the hell has everyone been acting like just the fact that you may be holding the IC Title actually makes them the champion?  Here's a great question: if I didn't want Daniel Bryan in a match with Brock Lesnar cause I'm not sure Bryan is fully recovered and could be reinjured by Brock, WHY THE HELL WOULD I PUT HIM IN A LADDER MATCH?  All that bein said, I expect this match to quite possibly (probably) steal the show.  I mean, it's going to be a car wreck for a lack of better description.  I'd like to see Dean Ambrose win it, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ziggler or Bryan win it either.

Sting vs. Triple H

This has probably been the best built single's match on the whole card.  I fully expect Sting to win this, and I'm honestly happy that his first match is with Triple H.  Had his first match been with the Undertaker, I think the match would've stunk.  Sure, the entertainment aspect would've been great but the match itself would've been a stinker.  At this point considering both their ages, both men need someone opposite them to help them put on a good match.  In this case, Triple H is going to bring the best out of Sting and is going to sell like crazy for him.  Also, I think it's hilarious that even in his limited role in the company WWE has handled Sting better than TNA did during Sting's entire run there.  Gotta believe Stinger is winning this, and wouldn't be shocked to see a staredown between Sting and Undertaker on Raw (cause I still believe that's going to happen).

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match - Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns

Man o man, has the build to this match been horrible.  Hasn't helped that Brock hasn't been on tv for the last few weeks leaving only Paul Heyman to talk for him (which he quite honestly excels in) and Roman to talk back to Heyman.  Then, the last Raw befor Wrestlemania when Reigns and Lesnar would finally be face to face, we get this:

All out brawl?  Nope.  Two guys acting like kids fighting over a toy.  And it what universe does someone take something that Brock Lesnar is holding and doesn't get their ass handed to them?

Even worse, the crowd just isn't accepting Reigns as a main event guy capable of hanging with Lesnar.  I know Vince wants Reigns at the top, and I'm not against the idea or the man because it's new blood at the top that is desperately needed but Reigns just isn't there yet and the crowd isn't ready for him yet.  Wrestlemania brings the hardcore fans of all over the world to one place, and there is a very real possibility the the crowd might hijack the match and the end of the show if Reigns looks like he's going to dethrone Lesnar, and actually does.  It's certainly going to be a very interesting match, that's for sure.

Alright, that's enough babbling about Wrestlemania and wrestling from me.  Just a few things regarding NXT.  First, I think its awesome that NXT is going on the road and basically going to act like an independant show.  Hope they come to the east coast soon cause I'll be over that.  Oh yeah, Finn Balor is money if he doesn't get mishandled.  The man has the look, the skill, the charisma, and is good on the mic.  Also, I'm fairly certain I'm in love with Sasha Banks.  The woman knows how to move those hips.
