I am shocked at the longevity of this console (and as someone who bought one, really glad for it).  There were AFAIK only two releases last year, though, so this is surprising.
2014 was a year filled with great gaming moments, all of which you can relive in our Game of the Year Awards. Weâ??re also geared up for all the big games that will be coming out in 2015. On another note, the SEGA Dreamcast â?? the little engine that simply wonâ??t quit â?? celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2014 and even saw a couple of new games. Now entering its 16th year in North America, it looks like the Dreamcast will still be thinking in 2015, thanks to a number of posthumous games scheduled for release.

Elysian Shadows is the one that I'm really excited about.

How powerful is the Dreamcast? I wonder at this because the graphics seem to be about on par with the Wii.

Really youre going to compare an old dream cast graphics with a system that can make as beautiful a game as mario galaxy? By today's standards the sonic games on the dream cast look like shit.

He's not entirely wrong, though.  See, the Wii isn't on par (in terms of hardware) with the PS3 and XBox 360 at all, it's not much better than a Gamecube.  Coincidentally, the Dreamcast is from the same gen as - you guessed it - the Gamecube.  The Dreamcast had one killer feature that could, depending on your perspective, let it rival a console like the Wii - native VGA output at 640x480.  Here's an example of how much better the games looked if you used the VGA output - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nld7UT-7ZE4  The max resolution of the Wii is also 640x480 or 852x480 (for widescreen), which is why people scoffed at it compared to the PS3, so Coolsetzer isn't too far off.

EDIT:  Also, the Sonic games are not a good example of what the Dreamcast could do (keep in mind it didn't get 1st party support long enough to really find out what it may have been capable of at 5 years into development), Shenmue 2 is a better example.  Shenmue 2 VGA capture video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NQZAlO9ChI

Those shenmue graphics still don't hold  a candle to what the Wii can do though. Everything is still pretty coarse polygonal. Too much fog.  You might be thinking of early gen Wii games as well, just like using sonic adventure as an example..

I'm asking to the DC's credit. I think the graphics hold up very well, even against the PS2. I think that the developers' could have squeezed even more power out of it.

Indie games? Or actual mid-tier games by actual pubs?

They are all indie games, with the exception of Hypertension.  That one is an unfinished major publisher project (a 3D FPS) that is finally seeing the light of day.  Basically, what's happened is that there are a lot of niche genres that aren't being well represented by the big name publishers anymore (2D in particular), and there is a big anti-DRM movement, so you're seeing renewed interest in the Dreamcast as well as the Neo Geo AES/MVS platforms because they are easy to develop for and are all the power you need to do great sprite based games.  The main difference between this and something like GOG is that you actually own a physical copy and can play it on a bonafied console, so there's a nostalgia factor plus it appeals to people who want to "own" games.  The only thing i would say, just because these are "indie" games, it doesn't mean that they are low quality.  Neo XYX came out for the Dreamcast last year and is one of the greatest shmups ever made, I think.

On a side note, the team behind Neo XYX (NG Dev Team) just released a new shmup called Razion for the AES/MVS, but I can't afford it right now.  Based on their track record, I'm guessing it will be great also.  https://ngdevteam.com/

Ah the Dreamcast.  How I miss mine.  Glad to hear it's still getting love from some people.

And that, as they say, is that.
