The Year Was 1999...

I am a 98er, can't believe this has been apart of my life for 17 years (more than half). Still sad Aries couldn't be revived.

I remember Deedlit too!

I spoiled the first half of FFVIII and FFIX and possibly a bit of FFXII because of fan translations of the script. There was something about reading it and seeing it come to life EXACTLY as it was read, unlike book to film adaptations, that just made me go fanboy for the experience.

FFO5 man.... still haven't had a website design blow me away like that. Its no wonder so many people stole it lol

S'up? Been here since FFO4 I believe. Stumbled upon the FFO community for FF7 tips on how to kill Emerald Weapon and here we are, 16 / 17 years later. I think I was called "Strife_SL" back then.

Still here too.  It's definitely been a crazy ride.

Best be careful, Rain's still around. He's always around. And he'll find you.

Ah yes, sweet memories of opening a thread, and suddenly Rainwang.

.... Wearing, if my seared memory serves, a top hat and monacle.

God I wish I could see that picture again.  It always brought me joy, and not just because it's attached to Rain.

Is Free Spirit or Kirbenvost still around?  I remember Free Spirit doing the Final Fantasy 500 project a few years ago, not sure it got finished.  Shame previous regulars have dwindled.

Free Spirit is on The Caves of Narshe website. He's the one that got me to come back. ^^ I think he's still writing his FF VI prequel fanfiction right now.

Stumbling across it at home?  Hilarious.  Definitely a mood-raiser.

Ambushed by it at work?  Not... not as funny.  <_<

The small write-up for FFOnline was in the January 2000 issue (126) of EGM. I scanned it for those interested:
"Final Fantasy Online"

Anyone hang around at FFO, Eyes on Final Fantasy, or the FF-related ezboards during that period?

The only ezboard I remember was Raine's Funny Forums. They started to fizzle in popularity when LiveJournal blew up. I don't know, maybe they were never popular.

Going to throw some names out there.

Two users that come to mind - from the time I registered back in December of '99 - are Angel Lady Rinoa and Demon Sir Squall. They were a couple. I think they changed their usernames to Trinity and Neo before breaking up and taking their leave of FFO.

Ambushed at work would still be worth it to see that picture again.

I joined up in October of 00.  I was also at the FF7 Citadel (which is still up and running).

I remember GeneralStar.  I remember a lot of the mods.  Indy and DH and a lot of the others.  I hardly ever saw Saint7 post, but I loved the name.
