I just picked up a New 3DS XL and Persona Q: Shadow of the Labryinth.  I bought the system specificially for the Persona game, much in the way I got a Vita to play Persona 4: Golden.

There's a sickness to me that I do not want cured.

Anyway, what other RPGs/whatever would you suggest for the 3DS?  I'm a noob to the console.

Bravely Default.

I tried the Demo for The Legend of Legacy and it seemed pretty solid. You can try that demo and the Bravely Default demo, as well.

Majora's Mask left a bad taste in my mouth during the 5 minutes I played it on the N64.  Is it really a good Zelda game?  It just seems so different.

^It is different. It's the direct sequel OoT. So a lot of assets are reused. There's also a big undercurrent of futility to the story that can be hard to take. That said, the 3DS version is a lot better than the N64 one.

The other good RPG's are Tales of the Abyss, Fore Emblem Awakening and Kingdom Hearts 3D.

Fire Emblem Awakening is amazing!  Bravely Default is also very good but there is a bit of a lull towards the end, so I'm going to accuse it of being front loaded but still very good.  A Link Between Worlds may not constitute an RPG to you but it's also excellent.

Majora's Mask is not your typical Zelda game because of the time shifting component that as Coolsetzer states, not only gives the feeling of futility to the story but your progress in the game as well. You'll go and do things and then the timer resets and it's like you never did them, except you wound up with an item at the end. You will wind up redoing things multiple times if you screw up and the timer runs out. It's not for everyone.

A Link Beetween Worlds is probably the best 2D Zelda game if that is your thing.

I heard the 3DS version of majoras mask fixes some of the timer shit that was on N64. What are the differences?

I just read this: and WOW this is a huge improvement.  That's what put me off getting into the original when i first tried to play it.

In previous versions, the only way to save in Majora's Mask besides playing the Song of Time was to use an Owl Statue to save your progress up to that point and quit. You also needed to use a sword to activate each Owl Statue first. This has changed in the 3DS version, as you no longer need to strike the Owl Statue to save, and you can continue playing after you save the game. In addition, several more Save Statues have been added around the game, and bear resemblance of a feather quill instead of an owl. These new statues cannot be fast traveled to using the Song of Soaring.

Oh god, the save system in the original Majora's Mask was just overwhelmingly dorky and awkward.  It's easily the games biggest flaw.

So I think I'm finally getting a 3DS!

I had heard about a $99 Black Friday deal, and I thought it was for the one that comes with Super Mario World (my favorite Mario).  Turns out no, that one is $200.  But I can just get this and buy SMW for $8.  So yay!  Really it's that Pokemon Go made me want to play a real Pokemon game again, which I haven't since gen 2.  So honestly all I REALLY want it for is SMW and Pokemon.  But I'll probably end up with Link Between Worlds and Bravely Default too, at least!

Yes, what of it?

Also interested... How is DQ 7?

Also, is the $99 deal for 3dsxl, or just a regular 3ds?

Is the Xenoblade Chronicles version on 3ds a visual downgrade to the Wii?

It's a non-XL New 3DS.  It's a new version of the 3DS that is being released on Black Friday.  I don't think there has been anything said about future price or availability after that day.  But it comes in black or white and has Mario characters etched on it.  Don't know if I'll be able to get one though!

XBC on the 3DS is a huge visual downgrade.

Now I think I'm being given a regular New 3DS with Super Mario 3D land.  Apparently it's on sale at Target for $150.  The $99 one is still a better deal, but meh probably not worth the trouble.  Of course neither of them come with an AC adapter.
