Noticed something in the Marvel page flip: am I crazy, or is that Black Panther's mask on that bullet?

I'm a fan of oldschool Peter who's 25 or so and married to MJ, but those days are gone.

I wasn't aware of that. I haven't read any Spider-man comics in a while, but I'm curious : does adult Peter Parker still exist somewhere in the comics, or is he only a teenager now?

You missed a shitstorm then. About 10 years ago the editor decided that a married, settled Peter Parker makes him unrelatable to most readers. So they made a really messed up story that retconned it (One More Day). Peter's still 25 or so, but he never married MJ (they dated for a time but ended badly), and they aren't really close. He's doing the swinging bachelor lifestyle he used to do in the 60s now mostly.

But the mature (ish) Peter from the 1990s is gone.

MJ works directly for Tony Stark now...

... and Parker has his own competing tech company, I think?

From that time Dr. Octopus took over his body, if I'm remembering correctly.

Seeing Spider-Man finally got me so much more excited for this.  Also having him on Tony's side makes me confident they are going to follow the important (good) beats from the comic story.  Also glad from this trailer that they are having some sort of Stamford-ish incident kick this off, instead of it just being because of stuff from previous movies.

Black Panther in action looks awesome.

Wow, limed and all!

Wow.

Yeah.  Just loved it.  The time flew by for a long movie.  Jaran, what you are referencing was so good!

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
Giant Man!  We got frigging Giant Man!!  And also, Vision/Scarlet Witch flirting!  And Vision in a sweater!!

Everyone is justifiably all over how great Spider-Man was.  Yes, granted.  But my standout was Falcon.  We hadn't seen him in action much before.  But the way he fought, and having his wings double as a shield was just amazing to me.  Also love me some Redwing!

My only nitpicks were: the misuse of Zemo.  Cause why call him Zemo if he has nothing to do with Zemo?  And also sure they called him "Colonel" at one point...but he went from regular nice guy to criminal mastermind like all in one step?  And I didn't fully buy Tony's like bloodlust at the end.  I don't know what a better solution would be.  But I wanted him to be more conflicted instead of completely being out for blood.  Intellectually he understands that Bucky had no control over his actions and was just as much a victim as his parents.

Movie gets bonus points for including a song from The Fantastics.

Tony:
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
I agree, Colin, or at least I did while I was watching, right up until "HE KILLED MY MOM!"

Not parents.  Not father.  Not mother.  "Mom".

Zemo:
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
I really liked Zemo... but they shouldn't have called him Zemo.  That's just mis-use of a character name to draw attention.  Like, the Mandarin in IM3 wasn't really the comic Mandarin, but at least he was acting somewhat like him?

Movie-Zemo is just some dude.

The fact that he was just a regular dude was pretty awesome, and the misdirect at the end--"Why would you think I'd want there to be five more of you?" [Paraphsed]--was great.  But he'd've worked better if he wasn't Zemo.

Steve and Tony at film's end:
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
So, like... we have two teams of Avengers now.  We have Steve's Secret Avengers (Steve, Clint, Scott, Wanda, probably Natasha, Sam), and we have Tony's New Avengers (Tony, Vision, Peter, Rhodey).  That's... that's pretty cool.  I suspect that will be important come Infinity War, though probably not with those names included.

We also have T'Challa - who honestly could work on either side since he signed the accords but has his own super-advanced country to back him up.  Then we'll have Dr. Strange by then (who could potentially train Wanda in magic like Agatha Harkness in the comics), Thor and Hulk will need to come back and fit in somewhere, and Captain Marvel will get introduced!  This is all so crazy!!!

In the comics Thor came back and Tony came to try and get him to register.  Tony was summarily bitch slapped with Mjolnir.

In the comics, Tony also cloned the then-temporarily-dead Thor and put him into action on Tony's side, and the Thor clone blew a hole in Goliath's (a Giant Man) chest, killing him.

So yeah, Thor was pretty pissed about that.  Glad we didn't get that in the movie.  Paul Rudd is too precious to lose.
