I'm eight episodes into Persona 4: The Golden Animation now.  It is a new animation from a different studio.  The first episode is a rehash of the beginning with a different shadow battle to show off Yu's power, but the rest of the episodes have been new content focusing on Marie's interactions with the group.  Think of it as the Fumoffu to Full Metal Panic in terms of tone.

However, episodes 6-7 deal with one of the new social links from the Vita game and wrap up the murder mystery part of the game and they are just great.  The culprit's rantings are especially resonant in light of those terrible shootings at UCSB earlier in the year.  Watching it made my skin crawl in a good way.

I also checked out Sword Art Online's first season on Netflix.  I enjoyed much of it, but the entire series felt like a wasted opportunity to explore the societal mechanics of people thrust into a world in which they cannot escape.  The series could have done so much more with its premise.

I started watching Persona 4 the Golden Animation after I realized episodes of it were already out. Watched the first 7 episodes so far and I'm loving it so far. It's slightly jarring how quickly certain events just fly by, but this series is not intended to be a full out retelling of the whole game and instead focuses almost exclusively on the content that was new in the Persona 4 Golden game. The first episode really felt to me as though Yu had just started up a New Game + file after finishing up the previous Persona 4 anime; his personality and characteristic attributes were already maxed based on how bold and outgoing he was in his interactions with characters. If you've played the game or at least watched the previous anime, check this out, but if you're not familiar with Persona 4 and its story, this new anime is not a good place to start, and it won't take long for it to spoil one of the biggest plot points in the game/show either.

Let's Play Chrono Trigger
Let's Play The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Let's Play Final Fantasy VI

Been steadily watching Sailor Moon Crystal as the episodes have been appearing on Hulu.

I like it, even if it's not terribly different from the original, and I miss Sailor Moon's ultimate frisbee.

I like how fights are now fully-animated. Yay for less limited production values.

I gotta catch the redub of the old ones. I wanna see how they fared.

Just started watching Sword Art Online, which is... interesting. I think I want to like it more than I do? I'm three episodes in, and while the premise is solid and has a ton of potential, the storytelling is jerky and everyone is making really terrible decisions. Stick with or bin?

Sword Art Online is complicated.  The first half of each season is fantastic.  The last half of each season switches from suck to blow in the worst possible way.

I won't deal at all with the events of season 1.  The first 14 episodes of season 2 feature a fantastic murder mystery that refuses to wear out its welcome.  The second half goes off the rails with the horrifically ignorant plot points involving a certain infectious disease that the crators clearly know nothing about.

Just stick with it and ignore all the parts that involve people flying with fairy wings.  You'll get 28 great episodes out of a 48 episode series.

Hey, what was your opinion on this? I really loved the first few episodes, figuring it was going somewhere cool with LaPlace's box, but I was pretty let down by the last two episodes.

Fuck Shit Stack.

Has any one watched Shinichiro Watanabe's new series Terror in Resonance?
I just want to know if it's any good.

I'm going to try SCIENCE!

About to wrap up FMA: Brotherhood. Either my ADD was worse in college or this is way more tightly plotted than the original FMA series (yes I know Brotherhood skews closer to the original manga)

Yeah, there's no fat at all on FMA: Brotherhood. It's one of the things that makes it so much better than the original, IMO. I remember the first version being flabby, and I can't remember if that was either filler or just a sense that the writers had no idea what the hell they were doing.

Anyone watching Dragon Ball Super? What's your opinion on it?

Myself, I'm enjoying it for the most part. Some of the animation is spotty, and quite a bit of what passes for humour I just find gringe worthy. though that's always been the case for me and Dragon Ball. Guessing it's a cultural thing.

Fuck Shit Stack.

I've been keeping up with it. At first I was annoyed because it was just rehashing the two new movies with shittier animation quality for some reason. But I really enjoyed the universe tournament saga afterward. I could've done without the superhuman water story. It seemed more fitting for a movie and didn't advance the story anywhere. But this new future trunks story with dark Goku seems pretty good so far.

Yeah, the first two arcs were just weird. Definitely interested in where the Black Goku arc will go, wondering if they'll have Goku find future Namek and resurrect everyone in the future timeline?
