Yikes and away!

What everyone else has said. Great ending to the season - and a far better season than last year's. I can't believe we have so little left to go. GRRM, TWoW please =(

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS DANY IS SAILING TO WESTEROS GUUUUUUUUYS

I'm actually really sad about Margaery going. I didn't expect that, and hit me a bit harder than expected. She played everything right, even knew shit was going to go down, and died anyways. WITH HER ENTIRE FAMILY.

How many major houses have been wiped out now? Baratheon, Bolton, Tyrell... and the rest aren't that healthy either.

FREY PIES

The entire music direction of all the events at King's Landing was brilliant - it struck me immediately since we normally don't heard piano on GoT. It was very reminisce of the Godfather's baptism scene, and just as powerful. Loved it.

My complaint is actually the Dany/Tyrion scene - I dunno, it fell flat for me, since I still don't quite believe their relationship together, as they've only had very few scenes together. I know it was a touching moment, but it wasn't impactful enough.

And we'll have to suffer without these until next year.

I did not!  I have never been able to get into the Telltale games.

As a GoT fan you should give it a try.  You play as a few different people in house Forrester.  It's pretty interesting, and has a few show cameos.

Some other thoughts too, book related and not:

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
I really wish we saw more of Kevan Lannister - I think he would've added a lot of depth to the Lannister family that's been lacking since Tywin, and a nice little foil to Cersei. The show used Tommen more anyways, but I still believed we should've seen more Kevan. He's jokingly called Diet Tywin for a reason, and it would've been cool to see that. I also wish Genna Lannister was in the show too, but the sassy older woman quota is already filled.

Anyone else feeling blue balled by the Lady Stoneheart teasing? There's no way she happens in the last seaon(s) of the show. If she was going to happen, she would've already, blah.

I also would've liked to have seen more Loras too - give SOMETHING to him as a character, since it's so very lacking compared to his book counterpart, before you killed him too. He was always the "lol gay" one when he's really just a hotheaded prick.

Natalie Dormer is fucking Margaery and her acting was phenominal and I'm really sad to see her go =( I was skeptical at first but she completely made that character and really added so much to the KL side of things. Her and Diana Rigg were not only great casting, they were fun to watch and gaaah I need to know what happens in the books.

Looks like they're only doing 7 episodes next season. And it's going to be airing in the summer. :(

Haven't posted here in ages but my general thoughts on season 6:

Music, cinematography, acting etc. was ALL stellar. That's what will keep me watching this series. But that's where my praise ends.

Story? As someone who's read the books more than once; I found it almost impossible to divorce myself from the source material. I wanted to. But the leaps in logic the story expected me to take this season were just too difficult to ignore. One of the reasons the books take so long to write is probably because there is an astonishing LACK of plotholes, fantasy trope bullshit and leaps in logic.

You can even tell they were really hoping that book 6 would be out by now, as nearly every storyline rehashes/rearranges elements from previous seasons. Fireproof Dany being the most standout example. Basically everything was in an elaborate holding pattern until episode 10 when they decided to drop as many lingering storylines and character arcs as possible by blowing up Baelor's Sept. As lame as episodes 1-9 were, episode 10 didn't feel like it was part of the same season at all. Maybe this is why it's being proclaimed as one of the best episodes of the series. It was just as dumb but... green explosions and they FINALLY ran out of ways to remix and rearrange The Rains of Castamere theme in Lannister scenes.

I'm also convinced that since D&D are out of books to draw from for storylines, they simply decided to lurk on some of the ASoIaF forums and adapt some of the more popular fan theories from the books instead. Now they've managed to con a lot of fans into thinking that they know way more about the last two books than they likely do. My guess is they were simply given a one page list of bullet points by GRRM about major plot developments with little or no context and details to go with them. D&D confirmed that the Hodor thing came straight from GRRM. But I think that they took the "hold the door" thing and came up with their own explanation that will end up unfolding very differently in the books. In the end, Hodor is a pretty inconsequential character to any storyline other than Bran's. The show spoiling the books in this particular case isn't a really big deal. I really DO NOT think that this means that R + L = J in the books just because it's confirmed in the show now. IMO more than ever, nothing that happens in the show should be considered even remotely canon in the books no matter how important or dramatic it seems to be.

Seasons 1-4 taught us not to take everything at face value. But season 5 and especially season 6 have shown us that EVERYTHING is meant to be taken at face value now. The Smalljon is playing Ramsay because he refused to kneel and swear an actual oath? Nope. Everything that happened to Arya this season was just an elaborate test by the Faceless Men? Nope. Arya's just a moron now. Her constant stupidity is what made the Frey assassination even more unbelievable. I'm supposed to believe that she can infiltrate a major castle, get a job as a servant in the kitchens, kill two adult men, dismember their corpses and bake them into a pie in total secrecy before killing Walder Frey himself just because she can change her face? Then again the Show-only crowd have been essentially taught to believe that war, violence and revenge is not only COOL but FULFILLING as well and that Arya is the Supergirl of Westeros. I miss the lost little girl with an extremely fucked up moral compass. I could go on forever, but Arya's storyline was probably the worst other than Dorne. At least Dorne was only featured in two episodes and didn't take up much screen time. In the end, season 6 made season 5 look like season 3. Something I never thought I'd say.
