I toss out so many potions and revives.

But then I'm a 90% pacifist pokemon trainer (only my bloodthirsty Pidgeott gets any gym time), so I barely use them.

I walked all over campus today hitting pokestops and avoiding rattatas, zubats, and pidgies because I was down to 30 pokeballs.

FUN FACT: Berries only work for one throw! BUT, a throw only counts if it hits the pokemon, so if you whiff completely you didn't waste your berry. That being said, even a berry-fed pokemon can bust out of a pokeball, at which point you'd need to use another berry.

I didn't realize you'd get great balls from Pokestops! So that's cool - now I'll feel like I can actually use them when I come across something I want. Just hit level 12 and all of a sudden Pidgies will not stay in pokeballs...

High level pokemon are snooty.

Level 17. I stayed away from gyms in the beginning, but took my first one yesterday with my 1285 Vaporeon. I'm just trying to keep up with other locals in my area. Still waiting for the Trade and Raid features... I think Raids are going to be EPIC.

Now, as I look back I see the crooked path that I had been set upon all those years before, leading me inexorably to this moment. I can still see her face in my mind's eye, poor dear Laura, such a sad tale is ours. A tale of heroes who strove to save humanity only to lose our own.

Ugh. They REALLY need to fix the tracking system! A Pikachu showed up on my nearby list - first one I've ever seen. But I'm at work. I'd wander around a bit if I could know if I'm going the right direction or not. As things are now the nearby list is so usseless.

I've got 44K stardust. Still holding off until I can get one of the more powerful Pokemon to power up. I should have gone for Vaporeon, but really wanted that Jolteon!

Jolteon isn't a bad pick, especially since so many people are going the Vaporeon route. Most gyms in my area are topped by a Vaporeon or a Gyarados, so attacking with a Vaporeon isn't the best tactic. A high leveled Jolteon would rock that shit. One more Evee, and I can evolve my Jolteon, giving me the trifecta.

I wish Niantic would at least give us an update on the tracking system... just let us know if they're working on it. Given that it did work at one point, my guess is they intentionally broke it because of their server issues, and may be waiting for the original hype to die down before bringing it back. On the other hand, it still isn't released in many areas, including Japan... I can only imagine how bad the servers will be once it's rolled out there. We might not see the tracking system fixed, the trade system, or the raid system for 6-12 months.

It actually just hit Japan today, and seems to be holding up okay.

INSPIRATIONAL THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Right now, you might feel like a Magikarp: useless, floppy, just laying around not doing anything for anyone or anything.
But one day in the future, you can make something of yourself by... uh... eating a shitload of candy.

Look okay this metaphor ain't great.

I don't know that I get what you mean. Don't the elemental weaknesses not do anything in this game? I thought it was just all about CP.

I don't know about the weakness but I know the elements don't work well on themselves. I took on a Vaporeon with my similar-CP Vaporeon this morning and spent the whole time having "NOT VERY EFFECTIVE" spammed at me.

No, elemental weakness is very much in play in the Gyms. I was battling yesterday, and my Vaporeon won't do much damage against other water or ice types. Lightning types wreck 'em though. If they didn't implement elemental damage, Vaporeon would be king because of his high HP. When you go to the gym and fight water vs. water, every attack pops up saying something about not being very effective.

Reido, I thought they were supposed to roll out Japan on Wednesday, but pushed it back 1 full week. If they did roll it out today, then great. Usually right now is about the time servers have been going down, and mine is holding up.

Ugh, I wish tracking worked. I've got an Evee hanging around the office, but just can't find the little sly fox.

I have had an Ekans (which still ain't in the ole pokedex) around my office constantly all week but I haven't managed to find it.

What team did everyone decide on? My daughter was playing when we reached level 5. She made us Valor.

Nice thing about where I live, if we go downtown by the lake, there are like 12 Pokestops in a 3 block area. Probably at least 200 people there at all hours. That's where we get our rare grabs. Rare Pokemon seem to love well populated areas. We've nabbed Onix, Magmer, Jynx, and some others there. Still haven't found a Charmander though.

I'm on Valor. There are mostly Drowsee and Jynx in my area at night, Rattata and Pidgey during the day.

I don't understand how gyms work...

At my actual gym, I saw a gym a block away guarded by a 800 Doduo. So I figured I'd take it with my 1100 Vaporeon when I was done with my workout. But a little while later it was sniped by my own team with an 1800 Gyrados. I went anyway and left a weaker Pokemon there too. But it was kicked out within an hour. I assume it was done by one of my own team? Because he was down to 1 HP instead of dead?

Anyway, I know about the coins every 21 hours for holding a gym, but I thought I had heard you can get some right away. Can you only do that if you take the gym yourself? Or was that just completely wrong? Don't really care about being competative in this or getting coins, but would enjoy buying more item storage.

Right now at level 15 with 54 registered in my Pokedex. Think I might try the exp egg pidgie/ratatta trick soon.

EDIT: Well, crap. Accidentally hit a lucky egg while trying to manage my inventory just a little before I was ready to. Not really a problem, had plenty to evolve, but I wanted to catch one more caterpie since that would have enabled me to register butterfree to my pokedex while under lucky egg. THEN just hit ANOTHER lucky egg by accident - there really needs to be a "are you sure" prompt. And I have nothing left to evolve now so this one is a complete waste.

I've given up gym battles until they fix the sniping problem. I do think I read that someone from the company said they want to make an update to fix that. To allow only the person who just took the gym to claim it for 30 seconds or so. Because I JUST beat one easily from blue and in the 10 seconds it took to heal my Vaporeon, Red took it :(
