New FFXV Thread!

Saw Kingslaive yesterday morning.  Story was terrible, yet I enjoyed the movie.  You cannot go in expecting to see a standalone movie.  This is clearly FFXV's prologue.  It's clear they used cut FFvXIII plot for this (you'll recognize some of the plot points from previous trailers).  It's a  shame we won't be playing through this.  I enjoyed it for what it was.  The setting is fantastic.  I really love the mix of modern and fantasy/magic presented in this world.  The movie did its job.  I'm more excited for this game than I have been in years.  Can't wait to pick it up.

PS:  Movie has some nice FF easter eggs.

Thanks so much for posting that. I got about 7 minutes in before I decided I have no interest. Square just have no idea how to write a good movie, it's much different from an RPG where you get unlimited dialogue. I remember I got about 1/2 of the way through advent children before I started fast forwarding stuff.

Does anyone know where I can get a nice plot summrary of Kingslaive? i want to be in on the story so I"m not confused in FF15. I just dont wanna watch it or spend money on it.

I remember nothing about the stor y of FFXII.  Zero.

No, wait - there were twins.  I remember that.  But that's it.

This is actually a rather great summary.  Makes you appreciat the game and story more, IMO. I read it when the story was still fresh and it cleared things up. I'm plannign to read it right before I replay that hd remaster so I can really appreciate the game.

Yep, still gaming

Oh, for the love of Pete, all this time I've been trying to remember what twins was Colin talking about, Lead Boy and Peppy Girl? or his dead brother? did Vengeful Princess had one?, but it was Mr Should-have-been-the-lead and his broter Mr Should -have-removed-helmet-when talking.
Goes to show how much I remember about that story.

Yes, what of it?

^I barely remembered the story after I initially beat it.

Seeing the "Stand by Me" trailer a few months ago kinda killed my interest in it.

In regards to FFXII. I disliked the lack of "actioniness" (getting hit by an attack that has an animation that ends 8 feet away from the character its targeting), but loved the exploration, and overall fighting. In the link, Ashe looked cuter than I remember, and I have many memories of rolling my eyes at "Roid Vayne", and his constant use of Pailings that prevented damage for a bunch of minutes of healing and boredom. The main memories came from setting up gambits that bailed me out of hellish situations. Those were the days.....

.....I'll likely buy the HD version when it comes out. I'm a total fanboy for Ivalice...

Apprantly the adamantoise enemy that you see near the end of the video takes 72 real time hours to defeat.....FUCK THAT SHIT! Yiazmat was already tedious enough as it was and that at 50 million HP. This fucking thing has to have half a billion HP if it really takes that long.

Meh - at least we have the suspend feature now so you can put the system in rest mode and tackle it over a period of days.  Though if there's a power loss after hour 60 or so I might kill myself.

Anyone hear anything about file size?  I have it preordered digitally and will need to see if I have to delete anything.

Wait it takes the same amount of time to beat him if you are at level 99? which level does it take 72 hours to beat him? I just wont fight him until i have the best equipment and levels..to cut down the time

I mean i could fight emerald weapon and win with the right setup at level 20 but it would take me 72 hours as well

I can't imagine that actually taking 72 hours when you're high level with elite equipment.

This wait sucks.  Wish SE would allow everyone to play with so many stores across the world already breaking street date.  Going to be watching Brotherhood this weekend as I hear it's important to watch it (in addition to Kingsglaive) ahead of playing the game.

I am more hyped for this than any FF game ever! And that's saying a lot since I had to read the translated scripts of 8 9 and 10 before launch because I couldn't wait. I've actually been able to stay away for a lot of the leaked information. Monday night is taking forever to get here!

I saw this on sale in town today and almost bought it, despite have no previous interest and the last demo being flat out terrible.  I think it had something to do with how FF8-like it is in appearance.  But man, a companion film and an anime series to lay down essential backstory for the characters you spend the game controlling?  Who the hell has both the time and patience for such foolery?

I have this game pre-ordered at a tit under $40 CAD, after tax - so it would be kind of silly to not give it a go, though my feelings are mixed going in. The reviews have been solid so far, but I have no doubt that it will divide FF fans. Business as usual.

I could've sworn I had a post in here about how the game looked boring and how I'd wait for reviews to make a call one way or the other... Alas, maybe I deleted it before hitting post!  Who knows.

Well the reviews are popping and they're mostly turning up very positive.  As someone with a pretty low bar on what makes a "good" Final Fantasy game (FFVIII is my favorite still, FFXII is underrated, FFXIII would be really good if it had better difficulty options!)... well, I put my pre-order in today.  I can probably survive the shipping period and Amazon is usually pretty quick... plus I'll have a little time to wrap up what else I'm playing before it gets here and probably takes over my free hours lot of time to fill while my ridiculously shitty internet downloads the ~9gig day one patch in bits and pieces while no one else needs the bandwidth.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat Reido - stuck on that killer 9 gig patch. Also I was under the impression that the 'Deluxe Steelbox edition' which I got was meant to include the DLC season pass with it, yet PSN keeps telling me to purchase it. Ah well... still got the FFXIV DRG relic weapon (Gae Bolg), Masamune, a cool suit and a silly Leviathan graphic for the car anyway, so that's good.

Also played a bit of 'A King's Tale' which was included with the Deluxe edition.. and it plays like an old school side scrolling hack-n-slash like Samurai Showdon or Golden Axe but with FF monsters. I got up to the part with the cave where I was slaughtered by stupid cactuars who spam 1000 Needles on me.... and watched Kingsglaive finally. Yeah, it was totally over the top... but I just turned my brain off and gouged myself on all the CG eye candy and lapping up even the ridiculous elements of it
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
(giant Ultros inside an airship grabbing people and throwing them around while plummeting to earth? Weaponized um... Diamond Weapons?? Statues in the city turning into motherfrakking Knights of the Round?!
Yes, yes and oh hell yes! :3

Either way, sitting staring at my TV slowly watching the patch update.... only 8 more hours to go... sigh....

I think I'm gonna sneak my PS4 into work and use my Vita to remote-play it and manage the download on Uni. wi-fi.

I started the game without the patch, it works just fine and was able to apply the patch after. Just take your time in the beggining and do quests while you wait on the download.
