This weekend I might get around to beating the game. Currently at 4/4 divine beasts, 2 full stamina wheels, 17 hearts, master sword, and tons of optional stuff left to do. I feel like I could spend 200 hours very easily.

Amazing game.

I didn't want to be personal but it really is "the problem lies with you". I've met a few other people who are similar to you in the respect that almost everything in life seems to be a disappointment to them. Oozing Pessimism. Like it's cool to hate a widly accepted thing and cool to like a universally unaccepted game. Are you the one fan of E.T. on Atari? I'm just curious, could you provide a top 20 list of games you think are just amazing? I need to know what the Anton Ego of video games approves of.

Different strokes for different folks, but I see you comment on things like the whole world is wrong and your opinion is the final judgement, when really I am not sure your opinion is great advice at all. I'm serious on the top 20 thing, I would really like to know if we agree on anything. Lets start with favorite FF game?
You'd have more of a valid point if the very post you quoted didn't contain me praising not just any game, but one that is near universally acclaimed.

Now wait right there while I construct a buzzfeed list for your specific approval.

Not really, because I found the Witcher III to be not as great as everyone else did. Certain mechanics were not very fun to me. However, I did see how they could enjoy it as much as they did and give it the scores they felt it deserved. So I didn't boast my opinion on the game as the final say on whether or not it deserved its praise.

I'm not trying to ruffle your feathers too much here but merely trying to remind you of what an opinion is. An opinion. That, and your opinion just happens to be incorrect. :)

I thought we were all adults who could distinguish opinions from factual statements without it having to be explicitly emphasized every single time.  Guess not.

Whoever told you being an adult was cool fucking lied, hard. The Witcher 3 thread is over there.

I beat the game yesterday. The final boss looked cool but was far too easy, and the ending was a step backward in story resolution compared to Skyward Sword. I love this game to death but it's not perfect as no game is.

My very early verdict is it emerges as the best Zelda ever in terms of gameplay and exploration. Which means it meets an almost impossible standard. It doesn't become the clear #1 in the franchise because (1) there wasn't enough meat in the story, even by Zelda standards, and (2) the music, while serviceable, doesn't come anywhere near the all time great video game scores of Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.

For me it joins LttP and OoT in the pantheon of amazing titles in the series.

So Sigh Ety

I FINALLY started playing this, now that I finished Tales of Berseria and Dragon Quset 8. It was tough to skip Persona but I'll move onto that after I beat this. Anyway, the game is really really fun. I love the world, it's a natural fit for zelda.  This probably will hit my Top 3 favorite zelda games for sure.

That being said lets talk about the faults. These puzzles are WAY too easy. I've finished about 30 shrines, does anyone know if they get harder? I thought TP was a bit easy but this game just takes the cake.  I haven't even had to think out a puzzle, I just do them as I go without haivng to stop and think.  I mean I feel like they adequately increased the difficulty of the combat so combat has some real meaning, but I'm into Zelda games for the puzzles more so than anything. I just hope they get better, as there are still a zilllion shrines to go.

Also why is there no music played in the overworld? It's just quiet. I'm not a fan of that.  How epic would it be to hear zelda music in this overworld?  I'm really sad at this trend of open world games just having silence, *sigh*.

Last, fuck puzzles with motion controls. Goddamnit why did they feel the need to force this shit in.  They frustated me enough to the point where the game got an auto-elmination, as I can't award best zelda to a game that uses motion controls for puzzles. they just piss me off that much. At least it can reach 2nd best status.

The only real puzzle issue I've had so far is Thundra Plateau, and mostly that was a severe lack of resources (ie, I had no arrows so I improvised to get the marbles down.)

I spent a lot of time throwing the same spear back and forth trying to knock down the orange one. Gave up. Tried to climb. Failed. Tried to float stuff up there. Failed. Got pissed and threw my spear one more time barely aiming and hit it dead on.

The green one...
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
I tried to get clever and push it off with a sword using my magnet, which failed (the marble is too heavy to push, I guess). Then I dropped the sword on top of the pillar on accident. Was trying to get it down when lightning blasted it... and sent the green marble flying.

Time spent trying to figure this out: roughly ninety minutes over two days.

I agreed with this untill

I got to Hyrule Castle for the final boss push and the Hyrule theme started playing after the cutscene and lasted until the fight.

Last night I stumbled across a shrine right next to the Great Deku Tree, and I felt really dumb to have missed it all this time.

I beat the game this weekend. I didn't think it was a pushover like I had heard elsewhere, but it didn't feel like a final dungeon. It was odd that the game didn't have a new game plus option but it was no big deal.

There were a few things I took away from the game. The main this was that it was huge open Zelda world that was really fun to explore. I did miss the numerous dungeons though. The small shrines had fun puzzles but weren't really filling the dungeon void for me. The same can be said for the full sized 'dungeons'. Combat was good and I never had an issue with weapons breaking.

Overall it was a fun experince and helped justify my purchase of the Wii U, which is always good.

Finished my first beast the other day.  The boss at the end was... weirdly toothless?

Like,
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
Poof, it's some kind of Waterblight Ganon thing!  You're fucked!

Unless you do some real basic dodging, or even just take a couple hits and eat, and plink away at it with arrows for a while...

I mean... this is a game where if I pick a fight with the wrong bokoblin (or seven) I'll get one-shot from a single axe-blow... but I can take 2-3 hits from a giant glowing spear before really being in any danger?

I meeeeeaaaan... *shrug?*

My  wife, who has never displayed any interest in gaming, just asked me to help her start a game of BotW. Few video games have the ability do that. It inspires a sense of wonder in people.

I got to the Rito village yesterday.

I have a lot of really strong feelings about the Rito, and about Medli specifically. When the music kicks into the Dragon Roost Island theme I got a little verklempt.

Also found a Major Test of Strength shrine, something I've had trouble with in the past. Actually managed to pull it off (figured out how to deal with both kinds of lasers). It was deeply empowering.

This frigging game, man.
