So Nintendo announced another revision in the 3DS lineup.
The New 2DS has all the New 3DS additons just minus the 3DS.
As somone who still only has the orginal 3DS model and has had 3D turned off since the first year of release this is a prefect revision for me.

I'm
super glad
I've held off on getting a 3DS so far because this looks like exactly what I want,
and
it's cheaper.

Does it have the same processing power as the new 3DS?

It says more processing power which is all nintendo said about the new 3ds so I am going to say yes. We wont know for sure until it releases.

I'm glad they came up with this design for the new 2DS. The 2DS was appealing to me eventually, but the slate design was a big turnoff compared to the clamshell design of the DS and 3DS. Not to mention the smaller screen.
I get no use out of the 3D function of most 3DS games because my eyes don't really get along with it, so I'd gladly sacrifice that function and save 50 bucks or so if this new 2DS is as functional in every other category as the New 3DS line.

Today picked up a New 2DS XL Pokeball edition. It looks cute.
I traded in my WiiU and my previous 3DS, meaning I was able to walk away with the console and two used games for just $30.
The device itslef is more light-weight than my previous 3DS XL, leading to a more comfortable hold and a better experience carrying it in my pocket. The overall design choices for the console were mostly very good by Nintendo. I like the new front-left placement of game card slot with a cover and an external access for the microSD card. My only gripe is that I would be in favor of a more high-end build quality as the material looks and feels a little on the cheap side.
I hope Nintendo's next generation handheld (Switch Mini??) puts to bed Nintendo's penchant for proprietary connector shapes. Seriously, USB-C should be the prime path from here on out.
