I'm more surprised that it's Koei Tecmo heading development of this and not SE themselves - does that mean we'll see a Dynasty Warriors style FF spinoff in the future?

I'm just glad that Shantotto (and presumedly Prishe) are now part of the story (and not secret characters), and that FFXIV is now being represented (with Y'shtola as character rep and the bottom of the Praetorium as the FFXIV arena). My only gripe is the new forms of Cosmos and Chaos - Cosmos looks... bizzare and Chaos has bishonened up considerably (guess Koei Tecmo decided a graceful angel-like goddess and a big snarling winged demon weren't sellable enough).

Either way, 2018 is too far away! (especially if Nomura and Kitase have anything to do with this like the original Dissida games - we all know how long Nomura takes to do anything...)

I'm pretty sure it's the port of the 2015 arcade game, which Team Ninja also developed. So it makes sense they'd handle it. Glad to see it is indeed getting an NA/EU release, because that's the only way we're getting this game outside of Japan. Surprised I didn't see Ramza or Noctis in the trailer though. Unless I missed them. Wonder if they'll add the characters missing in the arcade game that were in previous games, like Tifa, Golbez, Ultimecia, Gabranth, Jecht, and Cloud of Darkness.

Though I'd personally love to see a Final Fantasy Warriors (of Light) spinoff. :P
