I've called this place home for decades and now I am asking for your love and support by checking out my submission for National Geographic's Chasing Genius contest. In order for me to make it to the finals I need to have the most likes, shares, comments and excitement. You can find my submission here: https://www.natgeochasinggenius.com/video/2147

My idea is the Quit Rich project which I think some of you have already read a post by me discussing this project. I plan on giving out free financial education and I believe that will lead to kids no longer adopting the smoking habit as well as the end of Poverty in the United States. Poverty stricken people not aware of the time value of their money and how much they could be raising if they understood how to participate in our markets. This education will be easy to undestand and I'm already several months into it's creation. The website is currently live at https://www.quitrich.com

Please like comment and share my submission. I really want to make a difference and need exposure and funding to make this dream a reality. Thank you for reading this and your time.

Exceptional narcissist

Past experience has told me that smokers don't particularly like being told not to smoke, especially using the "here's what you could've won" argument.

I'm taking the approach of trying to talk kids that haven't tried it out of trying it. Preventing the addiction before it starts. If it happens to get some smokers to drop the habit I won't be made, but the main target audience is youth. Smokers might not want to quit, but most of them that I've met are sincere in their wants for their kids to not follow in their footsteps. I look at the information this way: I myself smoked for 20 years of my life and wish I knew then what I know now.

Do you have kids?  I assume not, otherwise you would know, your approach simply will not work.

Fuck Shit Stack.

All I know is that programs like DARE and just say no didnt work. You'd probably want to try to figure out why kids start smoking in the first place. Because I know the health classes I've had that show the negative effect of smoking didn't prevent the people from doing it that ended up addicted.

I have two kids and I was a kid that picked up smoking at age 12. This would have convinced me easily. I never knew about finance as a child, my parents didn't know about finance, and everyone I knew didn't know about finance. I didn't know how compound interest works and most people in the world don't know this.

I 100% agree that DARE was not affective and I even think it made kids more curious. Just saying no to things does not work for human minds. We must explain why and hope they aren't too stubborn that they ONLY learn from their own mistakes. From the data that I've collected most people that start smoking do so for a few reasons. Among those reasons are: their parents smoked, they have little hope to be successful in life (very poor) and therefor don't care about their health, and social pressures.

Most smoking parents that have tried to quit and have accepted that they cannot quit have a strong urge to get their children to never smoke. People that struggle with quitting are often very upset that there is something beyond their control. That the addiction is so strong that they feel like they don't have a choice. As a person that smoked for 20 years and has successfully quit smoking, cold turkey, I believe that there is a strategy that works: Collecting data and building leverage. Each time an attempt is made to quit make sure you have a new method to help the process. Each method you gain throughout your years of attempted quitting is like building a strong case, strong enough to finally win the quit smoking battle. There are several methods that have been developed by people and they can all be used as leverage. But the one that has been lacking is the value of compound interest. Matter of fact the information is not distributed to anyone, let alone smokers. It isn't until the internet that financial education has been available for free to anyone. It has been ??pay to play? for decades. And the free information has been just enough to get you to know you need to invest but not enough to be able to do it without paying an advisor. I am changing this.

Don't get me wrong, ending smoking by way of getting kids to be smarter than their parents is a wonderful thing. It's not my main focus but rather a side effect of ending poverty in the United States. People won't waste their money on the habit and they won't waste their health during this massive shift in class structure.

Now back to getting kids to not smoke. Those reasons they start can be curved by getting the parents to teach their kids the health risks, the financial opportunities that are lost, and speaking about social pressure. Teaching finance helps build hope. Knowing you can easily build up $1.9 million dollars is new information to the poor and middle class. This is old news to families that have always been wealthy and continue to be. This has never been done. I won't accept people telling me that adding any additional leverage against smoking in a child??s mind is a bad idea.

And Hulk, if you're a parent and you're not willing to give your kid every tool you possibly can to help them live a healthy and successful life then you shouldn't be a parent. I don't understand something about you: If you're so unsatisfied with everything and everyone in this community/world/hobbyofvideogames and everything is such a disappointment.... how can you not be open minded to a different approach to solving issues? Are you just going to stew in your miserable situation and complain? It puzzles me that every time I challenge you to think in a different way than you've been programed to think- you recede and run away. Why wouldn't you be the person who was looking for new ideas and solutions to get behind? Lets talk about it.

Sidenote: I didn't make it to the finalists in this contest but that's okay. I'm still moving forward and have been recieving some good support!

You don't understand anything about me, as your repeated failed attempts to get inside my head have demonstrated.  My kids do great, hope yours do too, despite all the shots we trade, I wouldn't go after your parenting as that would be the move of a slimy cunt.

Hopefully you're able to step outside yourself someday. My attempts at figuring out why you are such a bitter person are a simple effort to attempt to bridge the gap which you clearly have with 99% of the people here. Deflect if you must, but your puzzling behavior still lingers with me.

As far as your passive aggressive comment about slimy cunts is concerned: I think if you, or anyone, are knowingly withholding information from your own, or their own, kids because you are assuming that it won't benefit them is wrong. Assuming that the kids will make the same choices regardless of what education is provided to them... well then answer me why 100% of kids don't smoke? Shouldn't every kid just do it?

No, many kids use data and outside experience to showcase why they shouldn't smoke. They respect that information and its source so they just don't ever try smoking. That number of smoking children is shrinking LARGELY. That didn't happen with just saying no. All the data that has been built up for years is increasing the number of children who do not use tobacco products. I'm merely adding to that data.

Now I'm just quoting you so your words stick around long enough for you to regret them. Hulk, you're so angry. Is it because you don't want people to like you?

Yeah before you go down the "it's all trollololol" road, take a second to remember we're in a thread you made to beg for support in saving the world. And you got zero. There's a reason for that.
