I got mine a little bit ago! I'll post a mini review here shortly if anyone is interested.

Got mine. Surprisingly, the Toys R Us in Kennesaw had at least ten tickets left when the doors opened. They had 36 units waiting to be sold. 1 per customer. They really flew under the radar this time. Apparently the Targets, Best Buys, Game Stops, and Wal Marts got swamped in my area. Even the TRU manager was surprised with the low turnout.

That won't be the same come wave 2 which I am betting will be closer to Black Friday.

All I had to do was sit outside for five hours. Was fifth in line.

I'm going to check after work to see if there's any available, but I'm not getting my hopes up.  Reggie Fils-Ame said they should be much, much easier to obtain than the NES classic was, so hopefully that'll be the case.

But...why is that acceptable?!  Why does Nintendo not want more money?!

I had work.  Can't sit outside for five hours.  I had heard something on a daily podcast yesterday about some Best Buys getting more than they had thought.  So went to the mall at lunch.  Best Buy and Gamestop both sold out.  Well, Gamestop said they only had them for people who had reserved them, so I guess they still HAD some at the time.

Ugh...so mad at myself for still caring!

It's definitely unacceptable, for me.  Not gonna happen.

If I happen across one (or if heads are removed from asses and they actually provide a guaranteed link for purchase) I'll pick it up, but my excitement plummeted after I realized they were going the same route as the NES Classic.

Yeah I don't get this at all. Nintendo's business practices make no sense. Why not make these things more readily available? I mean between that and the way they manage their virtual console releases I just don't get it.

Because itâ??s not Nintendoâ??s business goal for the Classics series to directly generate revenue and profits. Itâ??s to generate brand engagement and excitement. Scarcity makes it an aspirational product, increasing brand value. Too much availability could actually dilute the value of the brand.

Whether you agree with it or not, or whether you like it or not, thatâ??s what itâ??s about. Personally I donâ??t think pissing off your fans by under-producing strengthens the brand.

Oh I totally understand why they are doing what they are doing. I just think their logic is wrong, inept, flawed, and stupid.

And I think, in many circumstances that might have worked. But it followed the Switch scarcity, and all they're generating is annoyance and mockery and distrust.

They keep saying the SNES-C wouldn't be impossible to get. They said at one point that the NES-C would be coming back. And I don't fucking believe them, and I say that as someone who loves Nintendo.

The King's orders are absolute

I showed up at a store in the middle of the afternoon and picked one up today. I haven't actually played it yet but I took it out of the box and it really is small. And the controller felt exactly like I remembered the SNES controller I used as a kid. There were still another four or five units on the store shelf when I got mine too, so maybe Nintendo really is getting their act together on this one, at least moreso than with the NES Classic.

Let's Play Chrono Trigger
Let's Play The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Let's Play Final Fantasy VI

I honestly don't understand the attraction with these things considering the many, many different ways to easily emulate the entire16 bit era.

Popped into Target this afternoon, and lo and behold, multiple SNES Classics in the case, and the guy said they still had some in the back.

Maybe Nintendo is getting a handle on things. (There were Switches, too.)

Neat little thing. Just wish it had a cartridge slot like the Genesis Classic does.

I saw it available on Amazon a few days back for the retail $49-ish.
