You may return EA full game downloads (PC or Mac) purchased on Origin for a full refund--within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from when you purchased it, or within the first seven days after the game's release date if you pre-ordered it (whichever of these conditions happens first).

I worry that this is ripe for abuse, but I'm hoping it moves Steam, Amazon, ect to be more leniant about refunds/returns outside "Nope, never gonna happen".

The abuse I imagine could probably be reduced/prevented with a hard cap (say, once or maybe twice) on how often your account is allowed to get a refund on the same game.

Personally, I'd prefer Steam and Amazon get into rentals where you have access to the game for a few days after paying a small price, then if you really want to keep the game, pay the balance while the rental is active. If you wait until the rental is over you have to pay for another rental of the same game or full price to buy it.

I mean if you want basically free 23 hour rentals I guess this can be abused.  But it seems great to me.  If you take a chance on a crap game you can return it quickly.

I just don't see that much abuse being likely to happen. It's all going to be tracked, and if abuse becomes a problem they'll just amend the policy. A single day of use essentially just isn't enough if the game is terrible. It would be enough to have been able to return all those copies of Sim City on Day One Fail.

Off topic, bu why hasn't Steam gone into movies? Makes sense to me, especially now with big picture mode.

That is a very good question. On one hand it's an arena that almost every big player has utterly failed at, but on the other Steam could really kick some ass at it.

Insert witty remark here.

Speaking of Origin, if one is brave enough to have it installed on their computer, it seems they are running a bit of a sale through the 27th of the month.

I got Origin, i looked at their sale. yes it's a sale but it's nothing compared to a Steam sale. Prices for a sale are not that cheap.

Yeah but half the games on "sale" right now or their sequel can be got for a buck with the humblebundle.com

this is probably common knowledge, but i just worked it out and thought i was a genius. latest Humble bundle games were for Origin or Steam. I gave away a few of the Steam keys because i already had the games or whatever. I then thought today, what if the Origin keys they gave me work for the games i gave away the Steam keys for. They did work. I gave away the Steam key for Crysis 2, today i claimed it on Origin.
