Both of my kids like it a lot but I have found that my daughter enjoys the games more than my son. He currently has only completed two entries (FFVII and FFVIII) while she has completed 4 1/2 (FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, Partial FFXIII). They both have my old wall scrolls and have collected plushies from the franchise. Anyone else here passed the torch?

I don't have kids. :(

How do they like the old school graphics for the older games?

Not yet, not really? It's a little... dry for an 8yo and a 6yo, mostly. The oldest likes to watch me play FFXIV but that's mostly out of interest in online multiplayer stuff (she watches me WoW sometimes, too).

RPG-wise, they're both more interested in playing Pokemon with its cute creatures and watching Tales of Vesperia (which I'm replaying for the first time in a while) probably because of the bright colors and cartoony aesthetic, and because it has a girl with pink hair and a dog with a knife.

They really enjoy the PSX games but they haven't shown much interest in the sprite based games. I really don't think they mind the graphics all that much. They laugh when the superdeformed blocked FFVII characters do funny things as well as feel the drama when it's intended. I think the graphics for that game still hold up in the ways it should.

Fuck Shit Stack.

Well my kids only 19 months old. But she knows how to turn the ps4 on and off.
Anyways. I'm hoping when she's old enough to appreciate it that I'll be able to introduce her to FF6

Just wait 'til she figures out how to jam stuff in the disc slot.

Yep, still gaming

I introduced my grandkid to video games in general, and I showed her FFIX, told her it was my favorite. She liked Skyrim a lot, thought FFIX was cute and was awfully curious about The Last of Us (off limits until she grows much older). I even got her a few games for a couple of birthdays, including an Animal Crossing one, alas! her mom thinks video games are not girly and that girls should go ew and roll her eyes at them and filled her head up. So now my grandchild does nothing but talk about make-up and dance music and goes ew and rolls her eyes when I play video games.
C'est la vie.

Mav - that's deplorable kidnap the child and reprogramme!

I've just introduced my 8 year old to FFX - I figured that'd be a soft start into the world of FF and had modern enough graphics to keep him interested (not to mention a very simple structly turn based system for combat - familiar from Pokemon). He's enjoying it a lot - we've got to the Mi'Ihen Highroad - I've got to try resist the urge to grind and fritter away all his money paying Blitzball salaries.

All this on the PCSX2 emulator which has been an interesting experience.

Sugar. Short AND sweet.

My daughter is too young (14 months), but I have already tried to introduce her to gaming in general. Not FF specifically yet, but I will.

I introduced both my step-kids to some of the older games in the series.  Mainly FFIV, FFVI, FFVII and FFVIII but they more enjoyed them as a story rather then playing themselves.  I guess my voice acting gets a 10/10?

And that, as they say, is that.
