Honestly I hated episode 8. Episode 7 was promising besides it just being a New Hope all over again, but it set up some interesting plot threads. Episode 8 took all of those plot threads and shit all over it as well as Luke Skywalker. As well as containing a blatant Mary Sue protagonist and a purple haired gender studies character.
I went into this trailer thinking fuck this I'm going to hate this. But sadly it got me excited. I just fear I'm going ot be let down again.

Last Jedi was basically their last chance to make me really give a crap about the Disney canon, and it didn't work. I'm curious to see TRoS (not to be confused with RotS), and I'll inevitably go, but I can't imagine I'll be biting my nails in anticipation for it.

Of course, if Mustafar freezes over and it turns out that they loaded the movie with stuff from the Expanded Universe/Legends, I reserve the right to go back on this and get excited.

This reveal made me ... much less excited for it. Dreading it, even.

Whatever The Last Jedi's failures otherwise, one thing it succeeded at doing was establishing that heroes can come from anywhere and any background. If IX decides to make Rey a Skywalker after all, like this seems to suggest, it will be an outrageous copout, and I will be guaranteed to despise this movie.

It doesn't suggest that at all, in fact the complete opposite. "Skywalker" is obviously going to be the new "Jedi". Which bores me tbh, I can't stand the insistence that we broaden the SW lore "the universe is so large, there's so much more than just the one family"...every attempt to focus on something outside the main Skywalker saga results in uninteresting drivel. The SW universe is deceptively narrow in terms of what's worth bothering with. Literally the only thing that interests me in that trailer is the implied return of Palpatine.
