Mass Effect 2 crash resulting in career deletion (PS3)

So, after taking a break from Uncharted 3, I decided to return to Mass Effect 2 and finish up the last couple of side missions remaining in my first playthrough. Great. Check. Fantastic.

Then, I started a new game on Insanity (as an Adept, no less), and I was having a blast over the last week, playing through scenarios again and actually understanding everything everyone's talking about this time. Still copa.

14 hours in, I actually beat the mission I was dreading about coming across: Horizon-- Those Husks and Scions can suck it! I get through my conversation with Kaiden, no problem. I call in a shuttle from the Normandy, and am waiting on the "Loading..." screen, admiring the hologram of the Normandy, expecting the next sound I hear to be the Illusive Man's voice, and then--

My game freezes. I'm still hopeful, as the HDD access indicator on the PS3 blinks a few more times... but then it stops. I press the PS button, hoping against hope that the XMB pops up. Nothing. So I wait a minute or two before resigning myself to a hard shutdown.

I boot up the system again, and check my Saved Data Utility for my Mass Effect 2 files, and here's where I really start to get worried: The folder says there's only 2 files inside, where there was once 3. I click on the folder, and for the briefest of moments, a third spinning logo appears and then blinks out, leaving only my profile data and my first career. "This is bad," I think to myself.

I start up the game (twice, to make sure) and find, much to my dismay and utter disappointment, that the only career that now appears in the Load Game menu is my first playthrough-- It's the final nail in the coffin.

I really want to start another career, but I am just completely deflated not only because it was an Insanity playthrough that was deleted, but because it was an Adept (a class, I've been told, that is not recommended for Insanity; which is why I chose it) AND because it was freaking HORIZON.

Ugh, just when I was getting back into the groove of playing Mass Effect 2... :/ Honestly, I hate when stuff like this happens, because my latent OCD compells me to think that every other remaining saved data and game data file I have that's related to Mass Effect 2 has been corrupted in some way; like it'll affect any future playthrough or future career importing when Mass Effect 3 comes around.

...F__K!!! Like, I can deal with all the bugs this game has--and they are numerous--but this just takes the cake. What a waste of a week. I seriously hope BioWare tightens up the code of the next game...

Wow, that sucks (to say the least). I was actually thinking about starting this game up soon, at the insistence of a friend...but now I'm scared. Shit like this devastates me.

I'm going to try SCIENCE!

This is fairly uncommon, and I wouldn't let it put you off of the game. I've gotten through two playthroughs bug free.

That said, I sympathize, seldom. Nothing worse than having an achievement like that wiped the fuck out. At least Horizon was early on enough that you can restart without as much trouble as if you'd, say, been smack in the middle of the Suicide Mission.

Personally, I would just take it as an excuse to do it again.  I find I need very ltitle excuse to do an ME2 runthrough.

My personal ME2 woes ;

I have it on PC. i had to make an EA account to play the first day release DLC stuff. I bought every single DLC that was released for that game. Then i stopped playing for ages. Now i can't remember my password for my EA account, and the password retrieval send it to a super old email account that i don' remember the password for. i was in the middle of a save i was making from ME1 with all the cool shit i wanted :(

Yeah, actually, I did just that maybe about a day or two after. Still a guy, but I changed his ethnicity (mostly black now) and class (the highly recommended Sentinel); I also kept Ashley alive and romanced her (I think I'll also stay true to her into ME3, too).

I have a request to make of anyone with the PS3 version of ME2:

When you boot up your game, you're given four options: Resume, New Game, Load Game, and Extras. Let's say you go to Load Game.
The game shows you all the save files for the currently active Shepard, labelled like so:

Load
Save Games for
[First Name] Shepard

If you have more than one Shepard profile, the game gives you the option of pressing Triangle to switch between Shepards.

[Now, here's where my request gets kind of fidgety-- Only do the following if you're not worried about switching Shepards and/or Difficulty settings, because doing so might prevent you from getting your Insanity trophy if you're currently on an Insanity run through the game.]

Press Triangle and switch to a different Shepard profile.
When the screen refreshes, tell me exactly what the label says now.
Does it still say:

Load
Save Games for
[First Name] Shepard

or does it say:

Load
Save Games for
[First Name Only]

If you can find the time and are so inclined to do this for me, it would be much appreciated.

No takers, eh? Or am I the only one that's playing this on the PS3?

Crono
Crono can cross dimensions too!

Sorry 360 here and most of us got into ME/ME2 before it was on PS so there are far fewer takers on that system.

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

Hey, amaron, I was wondering if you ever got a chance to do that. Thanks. :)
