Any opinions on the games Square has for the iPhone?  Just got one last week and would like to know if any of the games--especially the more obscure titles--are worthwhile.

Heard the FFT port suffers from a ton of lag/slowdown.

Got Chrono Trigger last month. It's great to pick up and play, but the movement controls can be a little too obtuse at times. The Beanbag Throw game in the Tent of Horrors, in particular, brings back some horrific memories-- The controls on the iPhone simply aren't fine-tuned or quick enough to respond adequately in such high-tension situations.

Otherwise, the game runs fine for the most part.

I did, however, encounter an audio hiccup of sorts-- Upon exiting and returning to the game some time later (my iPhone saved my spot in the game), the music had inexplicably cut out, with only sound effects coming from the iPhone speaker. The only remedy was having the game boot up through the developer/publisher screens, but I had no control over when that happened.

I heard that Chrono Trigger on the Iphone doesn't have New Game +? If that's true, I just don't see it being worth it.

You know, besides the fact that I already own two different copies of the game.

Secret of Mana has to be one of the most poorly controlling games possible on the iPhone.

I like FF1 on the iPhone, though.

Since it's Lion War, I'm very tempted to pick up FFT on my iPhone. A lot of the reviews in the app store say that the current version has gotten rid of all the slow down, which seem to be the most common complaint against the game. The size of it is intimidating, though.

Not to mention that I'd be giving Square money. :/

I have a blog. This is its URL. You should read it. It's about education and skepticism and books and it has a lot of pictures of Batman and Robin in it: https://baldermoon.wordpress.com/

The only good Iphone square games are the ones you play by running a ps1 or snes emulator.

What about some of the other games?  Song Summoner, Chaos Rings, Vanguard Storm, or any others?  Anyone have experience with these?  I have most of their major titles on several platforms already.

Also, any other suggestions?  Is Infinity Blade any good?

There's a five dollar SNES emulator for iPhone I think, and a free one for Android.  You know, if you're like me and already own two legitimate copies of Chrono Trigger and at least one of virtually every Final Fantasy.

Makeshift Gray
FFO's Blank Earth

I've played the first Chaos Rings. It's a quality game, although way overpriced. Occasionally it goes on sale for half off. I'd say it's worth it then.

I actually played the iPhone FFT port on my iPad.  It was pixelated (because I blew it up 2X) but I was mostly happy with it.  It would occassionally cough, but it was usually fixable.

It's a HUGE file though and will take up lots of space.  I think it's over half a gig by itself.
