This is one of those movies where you are completely allowed to judge someone based on their opinion of it.  If they didn't like it, drop that person from your life for good.

Regarding Marty's stash:

Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
They say at one point that he must've had a hidden stash that they didn't know about, and weren't able to tamper with, which is why he isn't a drooling idiot.  That it also happens to make him immune to their other stuff was a convenient side-effect.  Marty hints at this earlier when describing just how secret his secret stash is.

Also, I really wanted the ending to be
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
tentacles instead of a giant hand
, but otherwise this movie was awesome.

I was expecting that too considering what little we were able to see before the very end. It would indeed have been much cooler that way, but that's a very, very minor quibble that I have with the movie.

Crono
Crono can cross dimensions too!

This movie was so freaking awesome; I was laughing almost the entire time (which is what I do during horror scenes).  I'm so glad that I went in completely blind and did not know a damn thing about this movie.  I was really confused when the title screen came up and thought the movie was going to go one way but then I was wrong.  Literally, the only thing I didn't like:
Spoiler: Move your mouse over the container to reveal.
The ending just kind of dragged on.  I know it was only like 2 minutes of downtime but everything else was so perfectly paced I lost my movie high during the awkward "world is ending" part.
But still, everyone needs to see this!

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

Just saw it. Liked it. Liked the menagerie.

But, geez, I just spent 15 minutes' worth of a car ride trying to explain the metafictional aspects of this film to my sisters, and they still didn't get it. Honestly, people who think "turning your brain off" for movies is ok, even if it's a teen horror flick, have no business watching film. I mean, what Cabin in the Woods is trying to imply about the genre isn't that much of a brain-wrinkler, is it? Surely people will at least have begun to grasp the concept by the time the Director came onto the scene and started spitting exposition-- And if that wasn't enough, it's a big reason Japan was shown; to reinforce the concept by showing something equally familiar and contemporary.

This is one of those movies where you are completely allowed to judge someone based on their opinion of it.  If they didn't like it, drop that person from your life for good.

Well, I won't drop my sisters from my life, Der; but sometimes I seriously wonder how I'm in the family that I'm in.

I saw this movie not too long ago.  It was good, but I'm really not seeing where the massive amount of love is coming from.

Mole
Somebody loves ya.

This "commenting on genre!" stuff only works for people who are deeply interested in genre in the first place, and goes right over the head of anyone who isn't. It's the same with Kick-Ass, or ironic/winky stuff like Grindhouse; it's bizarre and alienating to anyone who hasn't spent 100+ hours discussing tropes and archetypes and deconstructing genre elements. If you haven't done the homework there's no way you're going to "get it" in any meaningful way.

Basically in order to like this movie you need to be Abed, and there's a reason on one ever knows what the hell Abed is talking about.

I'm not knee deep in genre deconstruction and I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was alright but nothing more.  Too much effort spent on trying to be clever, not enough on just making a good movie.

The last four posts read like a conversation about why no one watches Community. :/

That's pretty much my exact opinion.  If it tried harder to be a good movie instead of being a commentary on slasher/horror films I think it would have been better.  I mean, it was a good commentary on it, no doubt.  But I've never been a fan of that kind of thing in general, at least when it's the focus of something.  I prefer it as a side-element (like Community, to go with the comparison everyone is using here).

Or maybe if it wasn't so predictable, but it didn't try to be twisty or shocking.  It put all the important info in the first half hour and then went through the motions.  Cool scenes, especially the last twenty minutes or so, but not the best thing I've ever seen.

Despite this kind of negative post, I did think it was pretty good.  Just not my cup of tea.  Not enough focus on just being a good movie on its own.

Let's Player

I saw it the other day after all the hype and all that, and I'm so disappointed :(
The zombies are over-done now, so they should have chosen something else for their challenge (or whatever you want to call it). The deaths were so unimaginative too.
The japanese students part was good, but we only saw what...a minute of it altogether?
The whole lab part at the end was cheesy and badly made in general...

This was horror done badly...in a bad way. It wasn't even funny like some horror movies, so there wasn't even that saving grace. I like my horror movies too, so I was really excited to see this.

Sad Greeny :(

My most recent 3 let's plays:

Zelda: Oracle of Seasons - Link (Din, Onox, Maku...I'm so funny)
Killer7 (Completed) - Link
Luigi's Mansion (Completed!) - Link
