So my PSP Phat headphone jack is busted...

I'm only getting sound through 1 side, and my speakers haven't worked for years.  Any ideas on what to do short of ripping it apart and trying to resolder connections and whatnot?  I suck at soldering and would be scared of ruining it.  I've had it open before to clean the button contacts, but that's about it.  It's getting really annoying trying to play games in mono and hate to have to go out and try to find another first gen model and hack it all over again.

I don't know, but the Vita is pretty sweet.

Maybe a mini-usb to headphone converter?

Assuming you can get audio off the USB port.

Crono
Crono can cross dimensions too!

Well you can get video off the usb port so I'm fairly sure audio goes too.  I used to use component cables to play on my TV and remotejoy to play on my laptop once or twice but I can't say 100% that audio went too... but I'm fairly confident.

A 10 buck solution to the problem.

Currently Playing: Dark Cloud 2: 3 hours.
Also Playing: CT, FF VI, Solatorobo, Secret of Mana, Halo 4.
Just Finished: Fable II: 7 hours.

I think that only works for PSP Slims, I don't recall any mention of the Phat ever having video/audio output.  I guess I could just look for a cheap Slim.

Upon further google research, it seems that the Phat has a modular Sound/Wifi/Memory Card board that can simply be replaced, and costs like $15 to find online.  I believe I have a solution!

I missed the part where you said "first gen", oops.  At least you found a solution.

I can't bear to play my first gen PSP now with all that motion blur and the often sticky buttons, it's been passed off to my kid.  Thank god the 3000s are hackable these days.

Is the 3000 the cheap one where they removed the wifi and gave it a mono speaker and such?

Edit:  Oh, nope, that's the E1000.
