Fuck Shit Stack.

As some of you might have seen today the 9ers just tied the Rams 24 to 24 in the first tied game since 2008. I didn't know games could end in ties. But I guess its because I was only paying attention to play off games. What does it do to a teams standings in the event of a tie? Does it pretty much just not count that game at all? Do both teams get a win or lose?

Both teams get a tie. So, for example, the Niners would be 6-2-1.

Basically, it doesn't hurt or help when it comes to playoff seeding. Let's say the Niners go 11-4-1 for the season. They're going to get favorable seeding over a team that's 11-5, but still would be behind a team that went 12-4.

So it basically gives you the ultimate tie breaking in the standings, since you'll be ahead of every other team with an equal amount of wins.

Nice.

That's the optimistic view, anyway.

Basically this, but you'll have one less win as well.

and the pessimistic way (as a 49er fan i have to take this perpective not beating the crappy rams)  is that we'll be behind a team that we could have beaten in the playoff standings had we won instead of tied, lol
