Part 59 - A Mustachioed Fellow

https://youtu.be/vDdSq-CqJ_o

Bonjour Cactuar hunters! Eet eez a pleasure to meet you all!
...Jumbo Cactuar optional boss incoming folks!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Jumbo Cactuar Strategy:

- Cast Meltdown straight away, if you have it
- Cast Haste as soon as possible. This will be more important towards the end of the battle
- Use limit breaks. Squall's is possibly the most useful right now
- Hit his weakness: water. Leviathan/water spells are your best bet
- If he uses 10,000 needles, then a character is going down. Have Life/Phoenix Downs ready for this.
- Look out for Kerplunk. It'll hurt everyone a bit.
- When he gets low on HP, he'll start attempting to run away. If this happens, then you'll have to start the whole battle again. It's best to have leviathan on the go as soon as he starts acting weird...that and Squall's limit break

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And voila! You have a new GF! Cactuar gets much more powerful as it levels up without you needing to boost, so he's a grand addition to the team. To find the island, have a look at the video...it's a wee bit difficult to explain, other than in a desert :/ .

P.S. Sorry if this boss is a bit long-winded. He has a heck of a lot of health, in all fairness.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 60 - King of Dragons

https://youtu.be/aoS_v86_LPI

Hey there folks, it's time to grab ourselves another 2 GFs in this episode! First up, we get Doomtrain really quick at the start, which has some pretty amazing cinematics for the attack, and deals out quite a few status ailments (and damage) at the same time. To get Doomtrain, you'll find a solomon's ring at Tear's Point (shown before we headed to space), 6 malboro tentacles (given it's own video just before we headed in to Salt Lake), 6 Remedy+ (shown here at the start) and 6 steel pipes (shown at the start of the ultimate weapons episode). Doomtrain is also particularly good for junctioning 4 status defence magics on one character.

Next up, we head on over to the deep sea research center and fight the boss that's pretty much at the entrance: Bahumut.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bahamut Strategy:

- Ok, this one's not so bad...much easier than the Jumbo Cactuar, so don't panic about this fight
- Protect/Shell/Haste on everyone if possible
- Draw/Cast (and maybe stock up on if you're feeling confident) his curaga and full-life magic
- Cast Aura if you have it, to get your limit breaks out.
- Watch out for Mega Flare! It'll deal a heck of a lot of damage to everyone in your party. Be prepared to heal up/revive.
- Use Diablos if you're going to use any GFs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

And with the boss down, we get him as another GF! Non-elemental damage to all enemies is pretty nice, as you don't have to worry about weaknesses etc. Otherwise, Rare Item can be learnt from him, making enemies drop some better (or at least different) items when they die.

Aaaaand finally, we head back to the Island Closest To Hell to save and so that I can talk to everyone in the cockpit (this isn't shown to save time).

See you next time when we head back into the deep sea research center and make our way to the bottom...

Part 61 - Ultima Weapon's Home

https://youtu.be/sesQeiCNWtA

Hello there peoples! What we have here is the journey down to the bottom of the underwater research center that we sort of started last episode when we faced Bahamut. There's a pretty tough puzzle as well as quite a long trek down to the bottom, but we get there somehow. I find this place to be the most annoying in the game, but it's also one of the few places in FF8 that have that proper dungeon feel to it.

The incredibly high encounter rate (which I've recently heard is down to us taking Zell along) makes the recording take up about 50 minutes, but with all the editing and stuff it's down to...about 15? lmao.

Anyways, see you next time when we take on Ultima Weapon, who is certainly one of the tougher bosses in FF8. Definitely the hardest we've fought so far.

See you there ;)

Part 62 - Our Last GF

https://youtu.be/YpQltE0tBiQ

Hey there folks, this is only a short one today, but it does include one of the toughest bosses in the game: Ultima Weapon.

------------------------------------------------------------

Ultima Weapon Strategy:

- Draw the Eden GF as soon as you start, so you don't forget
- Junction Auto-haste to your character with the ability available
- Caste Haste on the other 2 as soon as possible
- Aura needs to be on Squall
- Shell may be a good idea to guard againt its powerful spells
- Revive a party member if they're hit with the one-hit KO attack
- Shiva and Cactuar are your best bets against this guy, even though he doesn't really have a major weakness
- Meltdown is as handy as ever to reduce its defence/vitality to zero
- Heal as soon as someone reaches about half health. This isn't an easy battle folks.

------------------------------------------------------------

And with Ultima Weapon down, we have our last GF, Eden! It's been a tough old dungeon (or annoying at least) but it's done. I spend a bit of time escaping the place after recording this episode, but the enemies are gone now from the bottom few floors.

See you in the next episode! :)

------------------------------------------------------------

Part 62b - Sharing The Leftovers

https://youtu.be/16IF1P67QvY

Hey there peoples! Here comes a bonus episode that shows off all the GFs that I haven't shown you throughout the game. I'm pretty sure I haven't left any out anyways.

This includes the summon cinematics for: Carbuncle, Alexander, Doomtrain, Bahamut, Cactuar and Eden. Doomtrain is a particular favourite of mine, so keep an eye out for that one ;)

See you next time, when we really do get back to the main story!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 63 - Fujin and Raijin Return!

https://youtu.be/KTiLiiCqngs

Ok folks, it's time to get back on track! First up, we head back to Esthar City to meet with the president. Him and Doctor Odine are going to help us to find/beat Adel and Ultimecia as well as find Ellone.

As we already knew, Ellone and Adel are in Lunatic Pandora, so let's just head there right away shall we? Remember that this is the point of no return, so do everything you want to do before now.

At the very entrance of Lunatic Pandora, we face the 1st of 3 bosses within (at least on this disk). It's time for Fujin and Raijin's last stand!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fujin and Raijin Strategy:

- As you'd expect, these guys have higher stats, but you do too, so don't worry about fighting these guys
- Draw and cast Curaga when necessary, especially after Fujin uses her move that reduces a character to 1HP
- Cast Haste to deal with having 2 pretty speedy bosses to contend with
- Doomtrain is incredibly useful to cause multiple status effects on them both at once
- They both have their old elemental strengths, so avoid using Quezacotl and Pandemona (and the respective magic in terms of elements)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And there we have it! We'll start Lunatic Pandora properly next time (and finish disk 3!). See you then! :)

Part 64 - Odin Takes A Beating

https://youtu.be/2V6HrnOosv0

Hey there peoples, here comes the last episode of disk 3! The trek through Lunatic Pandora is pretty simples, including both the bosses that are remaining on this disk.
First up is Mobile Type 8!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mobile Type 8 Strategy:

- Just attack him all the way, but only his main body
- When the left and right parts separate, use Quezacotl to hit their weakness. They should go down in one or two summons
- There are some handy items to steal from the 3 enemies. Vit Up/Str Up etc
- Haste and protect may be useful.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

With no problems against that boss, we continue on to find Seifer and see that he doesn't want to be Ultimecia's lapdog anymore, but he wants to be his own person. He's still gonna try and take us down mind.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seifer Strategy:

- Draw Aura magic until you have 100 for each character if possible
- Protect and Haste may be useful
- If you have Odin by this point...things are gonna get interesting ;)
- Just attack and use limit breaks and this boss will be over before you know it

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And with Rinoa kidnapped by Seifer, we end disk 3! See you next time when we take on another sorceress and attempt to rescue Rinoa :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 65 - Sorceress Adel's Greatest Hits

https://youtu.be/-PLmEwPuV-k

Hey there peoples, with disk 3 being pretty boring in terms of the story and just overall, it's a relief to get back to the good stuff in disk 4!
This time around, we take on sorceress Adel in our attempt to rescue Rinoa.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorceress Adel Strategy:

- Do not use attacks that hit both enemies! If Rinoa dies, then it's game over!
- Because of this, draw/cast regen on Rinoa and heal her every now and again, Maybe Scan will be useful to see how she's doing HP-wise?
- Simply attack Adel over and over for the best results...even if it may not be the fastest
- I'm not sure if Lion Heart hits all enemies or not, so this may be one of the rare times that I say not to use Squall's limit break.
- Mug a Samantha Soul if you like from Adel. It's nothing amazing mind you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I always used to find Adel hard, but I always used to use GFs for bosses so that may be why.
With her down, the time compression is about to start! With Ellone's help of course. With all the weird cinematics and bizarre past events being shown in bubbles, we eventually land in a time between times where the music is incredibly jazzy and pretty amazing. We also need to fight what I assume to be different forms of Ultimecia a few times, which take a single attack and are down, until you reach the boss at the end.

Heck, I won't chuck a strategy up for this one. Just attack and heal all the way and you should have no problems here. Maybe shell and haste would be handy?

Finally, we make it to the future, where Ultimecia resides. Got to love her taste in decor...my favourite dungeon in FF8 is coming up folks! That cinematic introducing it too...wows :)

Oh yeah, better mention the portals. Nothing particularly useful will come out of them by this point. It's all explained in the video...but I may have missed one or two things.

See you when we start the final dungeon!

Part 66 - Castillo de Ultimecia

https://youtu.be/h_xSX3pDR24

Hey there folks, it's time to make a start on the final dungeon of FF8! It shouldn't take too long, but...I'll edit out any times when I get completely lost. I'll be showing 100% of my playthrough in this place otherwise though...no cutting other than if I get hugely lost.

Right, this castle has 8 bosses for us to take on (before the grand finale and not including the optional Omega Weapon boss), so let's get cracking. Oh, I should also point out that each boss unlocks a new command of your choice (such as Item, GF, Draw, Limit etc) with us starting with only the Attack command.

First up, right at the entrance, is Sphinxaur!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sphinxaur Strategy:

- Junction your best magic to your strength, HP, spirit and vitality
- Junction some ice magic to your elemental defence
- Attacking is literally the only thing you can do for this boss, so attack attack attack! ;)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up we head to the wine cellar and find our 2nd boss: Tri-Point! Ultimecia is a raging alcoholic by the looks of things...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tri-Point Strategy:

- Attacking is your best bet once again, although look out for his electrical counter attack each time. It's pretty powerful so...
- ...junction some thunder magic to your elemental defence for this boss
- Draw Siren if  you missed her during the Elvoret boss...and if you unlocked Draw after the last boss. I'll assume you have it from now on, to keep these descriptions a bit shorter
- You could junction Blizzard to one character's elemental attack and Fire to someone else's if you like, because this boss's element switches between them now and again

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, we head on over to the art gallery and take on the toughest puzzle in the castle. To figure out which paintings give you the solution, just go up on the balcony and check what numbers the hands on the clock point to. It's all explained in the video.
Anyways, once the puzzle is done, Trauma appears.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trauma Strategy:

- Physical attacks aren't gonna help you here folks, so avoid using those
- Use GFs instead! This battle is simples when you just use those
- The best GFs to use are probably Doomtrain, Cactuar and Pandemona
- Wind is his weakness so Tornado or Aero could be a shout

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wooo! 3 bosses out of 8 in one episode! Wells, hope you've enjoyed this one, including the funky music in the background. See you next time when we head off to boss number 4...see you there! ;)

Part 67 - These Bosses Are Like Krystal

https://youtu.be/JT8TNI8Rl7w

Hey there folks, it's time for another few bosses to be taken down in Ultimecia's Castle! The Red Giant is up first in the Prison.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Red Giant Strategy:

- Cast Meltdown if you have it. Otherwise, use Doomtrain (either will do)
- Only attack now that his vitality has dropped. He should go down incredibly quick with this strategy
- If this doesn't work out for you, for whatever reason, cast protect and go all out with GFs and magic

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up, we find our way across the chandelier without it dropping and find Krysta on the balcony.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Krysta Strategy:

- This guy has high resistance to everything, so go all out with GFs once again. Particularly Doomtrain, so that Krysta's resistances are lowered some
- Don't use Brothers and Shiva. They hit his strong elemental defences
- Meltdown is useful once again

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so the church is an interesting part of the castle, with an enemy-filled portal inside (don't bother with this). The rickety bridge is especially evil though. You won't have to go far out of your way if you make the key drop...but it's still annoying. Just walk it folks!
Anyways, with key in hand we head back to the floodgate area and unlock the opposite door from the prison. What's inside? A vysage enemy from way back in the Salt Lake area! Once it's down (taking a few GFs/physical attacks), the next boss appears within the same battle!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gargantua Strategy:

- No physical attacks here folks, unless you think you can cope with the pretty powerful counter attacks
- Summon GFs (he says again), especially Doomtrain and Cactuar
- Maybe junction Quake to your elemental defence for this fight...up to you

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And with the master of the armory down, we finish the episode! See you guys next time when we...carry on with the castle! :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 68 - Catoblepas' Treasury

https://youtu.be/2T9_i7ECicI

Hey there folks, just the one boss today! I sort of make a mess up in this one, but it's all cut out and everything. The boss of the day is:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Catoblepas Strategy:

- Junction thunder magic to your elemental defence
- Cast Doomtrain as usual
- Don't use Diablos or Quezacotl. These are his strengths
- Use Earth and Water magic (Brothers and Leviathan)
- Look out for its final attack. When it's dead, it'll unleash Meteor before it dies

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To get to this guy, we solve the weighing scales/elevator puzzle, visit the study/library, the floodgate area as well as the treasury (which is where he lies). We also sort out the casket puzzle, where the boxes all need to be open, and will only do so in a Lights Out fashion (not sure how many people will have played that).

Anyways, see you in the next episode when we finish off this dungeon...other than the grand finale ;)

Part 69 - Outside Ultimecia's Throne Room

https://youtu.be/lRJnbA3FJFI

Hello peoples, it's time to take down the last of these ability-unlocking bosses and get our limit breaks back! This involves checking out what's across that shaky bridge by the church...and it's a pretty interesting place. I call it the bell tower, but it has a clock too so...maybe a clock tower?

Anyways, the last boss is found by jumping across on the bell (in the tower), and it is...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tiamat Strategy:

- This guy has only 1 attack and that's Dark Flare. It takes him some time to store up his energy to use the attack, so you have plenty of time to get your defences up
- So, get haste and shell on everyone straight away, and draw the GF if you don't have Eden already
- Go all out with Attacks, limits and GFs
- When his words are almost completely filled in, make sure everyone has a GF summoning (with the blue bar on the screen, I mean. The attack does massive damage
- Doomtrain may be a good idea once again
- Don't use Quezacotl, Pandemona or Ifrit...they won't help

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that done, we climb around on the clock face and make it to where we needed to go all along: Ultimecia's Throne Room. See you next time when we take her on...as with every FF game, the final battles are epic! :D

Part 70 - Grieving For Ultimecia

https://youtu.be/_ZJcsa2o65Q

Hey there peoples, here comes a pretty long episode, but it has most of the last bosses being shown. I've taken the approach of only junctioning GFs to our main party, and will only bother using those during the battle. Unfortunately, we don't quite start off with the party I would have liked but...not to worry ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ultimecia Strategy (I'm just gonna generalise all of this for over the 4 forms):

- Don't bother having GF as an ability for these bosses...they won't be lasting long
- The Meltdown/Aura mixture would be good if you get Squall in your party. His limits are naturally very deadly for sorceresses
- Cast Haste on everyone also
- Use one character for healing, and the other two for dealing damage (this will depend on what characters you are given)
- If you're given characters that you haven't prepared for, just wait for them to die and they will be replaced after a while with hopefully a character that you have prepared for
- Ultimecia can blow away your magic (both junctioned and not) so you may find one of your stats considerably reduced during the battle. There's nothing you can do to avoid this, that I'm aware of
- Well...that's about it really. Elemental Defence should be up to scratch to make it through this whole process

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

See you in the next episode when we finish off the 4th form (sorry, I thought she would only have a small amount of health left after this episode) and see the end cinematics etc! That's right, the next episode is our last one for the main story, but maybe there'll be another bonus episode or two on the way?

See you then :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 71 - See You Next Time!

https://youtu.be/NtJ29ZxUDgk

The last episode of the main story is here peoples! I say in the video that there'll be another episode, but I decided to stick them together and make it one slightly longer episode than usual.

Anyways, there's the end of the last boss as well as a whole load of cinematics/credits/etc. I have also put a bit of theory in there, but...who knows what it's all about for definite. It's certainly the most confusing FF plot-wise.
Be on the lookout for 2 bonus episodes! See you then! :)

P.S. You've gotta love that last song. Sorta cheesy, and it reminds me of the ending song for Alundra (is it the same singer by any chance?), but it fits with the cheesy end cinematics so...it's all good :)

Final Bonus Episode 1/2 - Winhill

https://youtu.be/5ADBK3yzYWo

Ok, here comes the 1st of 2 final bonus episodes folks! Winhill is the calm, peaceful village that we saw back in dream world 3 (I think?), but now we get to revisit as Squall and co. The ghosts of the past are certainly going strong, as we search for the missing vase pieces for the manor owner.

Also, the chicobo! Cute...and with old, bitty music that's just so nostalgic. Loves it!
Hope you enjoy this one, and I'll see you for the very last of this series tomorrow :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Bonus Episode 2/2 - Shumi Village

https://youtu.be/zrSIuJfQSaI

Hello peoples, it's time to wrap this series up with one last bonus episode! Shumi Village is pretty stunning considering it's all underground. With ponds, trees, grass and wildlife growing everywhere, it's got to be one of the best locations in the entire game! We only do one of the sidequests here out of two, but it's probably the more interesting one.

Finding the 5 stones for the artist is pretty tough, but it's not a huge place, so it's fine. The video shows where the water, shadow, life, blue and wind stones are and how to fully appreciate a handshake.

Finally, I toss a battle in there showing off the Phoenix summon, just for the sake of it.

See you in the next series! I'll actually be having a small break, but there will be a ready-made mini-series going on while I'm away. Starting the same day that this is uploaded actually...at least the opening will be. See you there? :)

Comment or whatever if you have any questions etc :)
