But Mystic Quest was developed by Japan ... it's just they never intended it to be released in their own country. So even if the US that wanted it, Japan is the one that made it possible.
Though to be fair Square America did make Secret of Evermore and while I am still bummbed that it caused Secret of Mana 3 to be shelved from it's release schedule in favor of Evermore, the Evermore brand name has been kept in suspended animation while Mana's last offering put made the franchise a joke.
