 Bribing Special Items
What are the chances of successfully bribing an item for the least expensive price?
The ± sign indicates a random range of values centering on a given number. The ± influence is determined by how much you bribed a monster. For instance, 30±15 means that a random number is chosen between all values from below 30 and down to 15, and above 30 up to 45. To influence getting a value above 30 or below 30 more more often, bribe less than the amount given to get a value below 30, or bribe more than the amount given to get a value above 30.
The ~ sign means a random value is chosen between the two values shown. For instance 24~78 means a random value is chosen from 24 to 78.
 Collecting Abilities
What kind of abilities can I acquire to support my weapons and armor?
Whenever an enemy is defeated, there is a chance it may drop one piece of equipment, either a weapon or an armor, for one character chosen at random. The abilities listed for the monster tell you what abilities under which qualifications are attached to that piece of equipment. Monsters drop weapons with a differing number of slots and a random number of abilities indicated on their Drop Weapon and Armor information. Some regular enemies drop weapons with no abilities at all. Regular enemies drop equipment with a given chance, some more often than others. Bosses will always drop equipment.

Battle Strategy
|
This is a staged fight, and you're in no danger of losing. The battle serves mainly as a turtorial for Overdrives. Auron will be forced to use his Overdrive at the start of the battle to kill all the Sinscales. It's not necessary to get the button sequence correct in this fight. Ammes will constantly use Demi, so you're in no danger of dying. Keep using physical attacks until it's been defeated.

This is another staged fight where you're in no danger of dying. Geosgaeno will only cut Tidus's current HP by half every time. Just hit Geosgaeno two or three times to end the battle. You'll fight this boss for real much later on in the game.

Battle Strategy
|
This will be your first real battle, and you have a chance of dying. Trade blows with Klikk, and heal Tidus with a potion whenever his HP drops into the yellow range. Eventually the battle will be interrupted, and a mysterious woman will assist you. You'll find the Grenades she uses to be highly effective, so Steal a few of them from this boss. Don't bother stealing more than three times as it becomes harder and harder to steal each time successivly if you when you do. A combination of Grenades and Tidus's sword swipes should end the battle quickly.
Overkilling Strategy: It is possible to Overkill Klikk, but it requires a bit of patience. Just wait around by uselessly changing your equipment. Try and get Klikk to fill up your mystery Ally's Overdrive gauge.
When it's filled her Overdrive becomes available. It's called Mix (If you haven't guessed by now it's Rikku), Mix together 2 Grenades to produce Flash Flood, and it should easily be able to kill Klikk a few times over with the amount of damage it delivers. It's definitly worth it as you'll get 4 Ability Spheres, which are very hard to come by at the start of the game, for
doing this.

Battle Strategy

There's two ways you can go about this battle. A cheap and dirty way, or the long way.
If you're gonna do it the long way about it's fairly simple. Have Tidus attack normally, and your mystery ally use Grenades constantly, always keep your HP above 200 and out of the yellow range. When Tros runs away to the far side of the room, just select standby to recover 50 HP, and then Tros will use it's powerful Nautilus charge which hits both Tidus and "????" for around 150 damage. Keep attacking Tros until it swims over to the other side of the room. When Tidus's turn comes up, use the Trigger Command Pincer Attack to prevent Tros from moving and using the Nautlius Charge. With Tros trapped between your two characters he'll fall easily.
If you want a quick, dirty, and altogether cheap way of defeating Tros, you can charge up "????"'s Overdrive Gauge before the battle. Save the Overdrive till you get into te fight. When her turn comes up, Mix two Grenades together to kill Tros in one hit and get a much sought after Overkill.

Battle Strategy
|
No matter how many Sinscales you kill, three more will always land onboard the ship. So your main strategy should be clear, go after the Sin's Fin. However only Wakka and Lulu will be able to damage it. So Kimahri and Tidus should look after the Sinscales to prevent damage to your characters, while Yuna heals the party.
If you're looking to get an Overkill, the only way you can get one is by sumoning Valefor to use its Overdrive on the Fin. Either plan ahead and charge up Valefor's Overdrive Gauge before setting sail on the S.S. Liki or charge it up in this battle by using Boost.
Limitless AP and 99 Power Spheres:
The Sinscales you kill in this battle give you AP, Gil, and Power Spheres and it's all added up after the battle. With Wakka, Kimahri, and Tidus in the active party, have Tidus use his Cheer ability 4 or 5 times in a row. You'll now be able to kill the Sinscales in one hit. Since the Sinscales hardly have a chance to attack you, you can slaughter an unlimited number of them and get a massive amount of AP at the end of the battle.

Battle Strategy
|
This is a continuation of the previous battle, however only Wakka and Tidus will be able to fight this boss. Ignore the Sinscales as they are a little more lethal this time around, so heal up with Potions should your HP drop down into the yellow zone. Use Wakka's Dark Attack to blind Echuilles for three turns, and use this opportunity to hack away at it. When the darkness status wears off have Wakka afflict it with darkness again and continue the assault to finish it off, and receive your AP reward for defeating both bosses.
Overkilling strategy: It is possible to Overkill Echuilles, but it's a little risky. When Echuilles is down to below 400 HP, wait around and let the enemies charge up either Tidus or Wakka's Overdrive. Have Tidus use Cheer 4 or 5 times beforehand to increase the amount of damage you do with physical attacks. When either of their Overdrives is charged, use it to Overkill Echuilles.

Battle Strategy
|
Since this boss is optional, you basically have two choices of when to fight it. You can fight it now, before going to Kilika Temple, or you can fight it after going to Kilika Temple. If you fight it now, you'll have a tough fight on your hands, however you'll get a couple more rewards if you do. If you fight it later, when you have Ifrit, you'll have a much easier time, but you'll miss out on the couple of rewards should you manage to beat Lord Ochu before going to Kilika Temple. The rewards you get for defeating Lord Ochu before going to Kilika Temple is an Elixir from Luzzu, and a NulFrost Shield from one of the Crusader officers in the Jungle. With that decision at hand it's time to fight Lord Ochu. It is imperitive though that you try and Overkill Lord Ochu, because he drops very rare and otherwise hard to obtain HP or MP Spheres
Fighting Before Kilika Temple:
Every time Lord Ochu attacks a party member they'll be poisoned, so always have Yuna standing by to treat this condition ASAP, as poison is a particularly deadly status. Use Lulu's Fire to do some serious damage to it. Have Tidus, Wakka, and Kimahri attacks while Yuna recovers your characters HP and status effects. When Lord Ochu loses half of his HP, he'll cast Sleep on himself to recover HP in Regen status. When this happens, have Yuna summon Valefor, and do a physical attack to wake it up. Ochu's Earthquake will miss Valefor. Charge up Valefor's Overdrive Gauge and keep attacking Ochu with Sonic Wings to get several hits in. Don't let Ochu get too many turns or he'll make short work of Valefor by using a very powerful Water spell. When Lord Ochu has less than 1200 HP execute Valefor's Overdrive to Overkill Lord Ochu.
After Going to Kilika Temple: With Ifrit in Yuna's control, this will be a very brief fight. Summon Ifrit at the start of the battle, and cast Fire a few times while getting Lord Ochu to charge up Ifrit's Overdrive Gauge. Unleash Ifrit's Overdrive when it's charged and when Lord Ochu has less than 3000 HP for a quick and easy Overkill.

Two tentacles attack your party from behind while Sinspawn: Genaux is hiding inside his shell. As long as the tentacles are standing, they will absorb all magical attacks directed against Genaux. All physical attacks against Genaux hardly do any damage, Genaux will revcover lost HP and occasonally attack the party using his tentacles or by emitting gas from his shell. So your first order of business is to take care of these two tentacles. It shouldn't be too hard to accomplish, as they'll be dispatched after one or two hits from Tidus, Wakka, and Kimahri.

You won't be able to go after Genaux until you take care of his tentacles. When the tentacles are dispatched, Genaux will come out of his shell to fight you after taking some damage. When he comes out of his shell, have Yuna summon Valefor to trade blows with Genaux until Genaux's HP is around 1200. Sit around and use Boost to fill up Valefor's Overdrive Gauge, and when it's full, use Valefor's Energy Ray to Overkill Genaux easily.
