 Bribing Special Items
What are the chances of successfully bribing an item for the least expensive price?
The ± sign indicates a random range of values centering on a given number. The ± influence is determined by how much you bribed a monster. For instance, 30±15 means that a random number is chosen between all values from below 30 and down to 15, and above 30 up to 45. To influence getting a value above 30 or below 30 more more often, bribe less than the amount given to get a value below 30, or bribe more than the amount given to get a value above 30.
The ~ sign means a random value is chosen between the two values shown. For instance 24~78 means a random value is chosen from 24 to 78.
 Collecting Abilities
What kind of abilities can I acquire to support my weapons and armor?
Whenever an enemy is defeated, there is a chance it may drop one piece of equipment, either a weapon or an armor, for one character chosen at random. The abilities listed for the monster tell you what abilities under which qualifications are attached to that piece of equipment. Monsters drop weapons with a differing number of slots and a random number of abilities indicated on their Drop Weapon and Armor information. Some regular enemies drop weapons with no abilities at all. Regular enemies drop equipment with a given chance, some more often than others. Bosses will always drop equipment.

High magic defense. No elemental weaknesses. Exhales Poison Breath if hit repeatedly by melee attacks. Ask Cid to move the airship away and he'll launch a volley of Guided Missiles for you.
|
|
Battle Strategy
|
Evrae is one tough boss. It has nearly double the amount of HP from the previous boss, cuts all elemental damage in half, and has a nasty breath attack that does 1000 damage to all characters on top of poisoning them. But there are a few things you can do. At the start of the battle have either Rikku or Tidus tell Cid to pull the Airship away from Evrae. At such a long distance Evrae's Poison Breath won't hit you, and it's Photon attack will be the only thing that hits you for a very small amount of damage. However only Wakka and Lulu will be able to hit Evrae at long range. Cid will also lend a hand by firing up to 3 missile volleys at Evrae. Since you're safe at this distance you can easily lop off half of Evrae's HP before things get difficult. When Evrae's HP gets low, it'll advance forward and take a swipe at all characters, damaging all of them substantially. You won't be able to retreat back anymore because Evrae will do this on each and every turn it gets when you pull away. So you'll have to fight in close quarters. Evrae further makes this battle more difficult by casting Haste on itself, which you won't be able to get rid of at all. Have Rikku use Al Bhed Potions and Hi-Potions to heal the party eahc and every turn she gets. Whatever you do, don't cast Haste on your characters, or else Evrae will respond by casting Slow on them. Keep hacking away at Evrae and recover your HP after each attack Evrae does, and you should be okay. Always remember to use an Al Bhed Potion ASAP after Evrae hits you with Poison Breath, and you should be okay.

This will be an Aeon duel, and you'll have to choose your Aeon's wisely. Considering you're fighting Isaaru's version of Ifrit, summon Shiva to take him on. Shiva is far faster than Ifrit, and has NulBlaze which renders, Ifrit's attacks useless. And since NulBlaze has a quick recovery time, you can cast it once, and then attack Ifrit as well before he gets a turn. Keep this up until Grothia is defeated. If Shiva's HP falls too low, have her cast Blizzara on herself to recover her HP. You're not done yet...

Isaaru gives you no break in between battles to recover and he'll now summon his version of Valefor, which is named Pterya. Pterya is a snap to beat. Choose Ifrit for this battle and hit Pterya a few times, and inflict about 4000 damage. Then let Pterya fill up Ifrit's Overdrive Gauge. If Ifrit needs to recover HP, simply cast Fire or Fira on himself. When Ifrit's gauge is full Unleash his Overdrive to make short work of Pterya.

Isaaru will now summon his last Aeon, Spathi, which is his version of Bahamut. This fight is pretty simple. Spathi will just stand there and do nothing but charge its Overdrive Gauge, and when it's full he'll unleash Mega Flare. Choose Ixion for this fight, and your strategy should be clear. Hit Spathi a bunch of times, and when just before he uses his Overdrive, have Ixion use Shield to reduce the damage. When Ixion's HP falls to low, cast Thundara on itself to recover his HP. With each attack Ixion does it'll increase his Overdrive Gauge. If the gauge is charged when Spathi is still standing execute the Overdrive to do 9999 damage.

Evrae is back and has been ressurected from the dead deep inside Bevelle. Take note of the Sensor and Scan information on this boss. Since it's in Zombie status you can use healing items to quickly dispatch this boss. In fact if you use a Phoenix Down on this boss it'll do 8192 damage to it. If you use another one, it will Overkill this boss very easily. Not only will killing this boss this fast by getitng an overkill easy, it enables you to get a couple hidden items that you won't be able to get if you fought Evrae through all the canal locks.

Its Shattering Claw hits petrified characters, smashing them to smithereens. Beware the Desperado, which inflicts damage and negates any magical augmentations.

Battle Strategy
|
Mortibody is attached to Seymour Natus, and it cannot be killed. However if you deplete Mortibody's HP to 0 it'll drain 3000 HP off from Seymour to keep itself alive, and have a new Max HP of 3000. If you kill it again, it'll drain off 2000 HP from Seymour which will be it's new Max HP. Kill it once more and it'll drain off 1000 HP for it's new max. From there on each time you deplete all of Mortibody's HP it'll will replenish it's HP by draining 1000 HP from Seymour.
Mortibody likes to compliment Seymour's attacks, and is generally a pain. If Seymour petrifies a character, quickly cure them, as Mortibody will shatter the character and you'll be down to having only 2 characters to fight Seymour, you won't be able to revive a shattered character, so beware of anyone getting petrified so you can cure it ASAP. Try not to use more than 1 support spell on your characters at a time. If Mortibody sees you have more than 1 support status on any character, it'll damage all characters and cancel all their support statuses, like Nul Spells which you'll be using. Concentrate on fighting Seymour, but be aware of Mortibody's attack pattern and you should have little to no trouble at all.

Still uses elemental magic, but now uses multi-spells. When HP is low he'll petrify with Break and cast the non-elemental spell Flare.
|
|
Battle Strategy
|
Seymour still isn't much different than before, he still uses that same elemental magic pattern as before: ice, lightning, fire, then water. But with Mortibody around to cast that spell on everyone, Nul Spells aren't as useful here. This is where using Reflect on everyone is a viable option. All the spells will bounce off and hit Seymour or Mortibody. To heal, you'll need to rely on Rikku using Al Bhed Potions. With Reflect up on all your characters you'll laregly be safe from most of Seymour's attacks. Hack away at him at your leisure. When Seymour's HP is low he'll start using Break which petrifies a character, and Flare. Flare can be reflected off characters, but Break will go through. Immediately cure that characters petrification status before Mortibody gets a turn or else Mortibody will shatter that character. With Seymour down to around 10000 HP, summon Bahamut and trade a few blows to charge up his Overdrive gauge. As soon as it's charged unleash his Overdrive, Mega Flare, for the Overkill.

Boasts very high physical attack and defense. Its counterattack Blast Punch delays target and causes damage. Casts Mighty Guard and Slowga.
|
|
Battle Strategy
|
This boss is flat out brutal, as you can tell by his HP and Strength stat. He's much like Wendigo though, in that he can flat out kill a single character any time he feels like. He also has a really high defense, and is also amored. So only Piercing weapons will be able to damage him normally. But since this boss is able to be blinded, Wakka's Dark Buster is hugely effective. Use Wakka's Dark Buster before each attack Defender X makes so that his more lethal attacks will miss your characters. Have Auron start in on this boss by Armor Breaking it so you can damage it normally. Now just pound away, and remember to use Wakka's Dark Buster before each turn Defender X gets. Its Blast Punch is nothing to worry about as it only halves that character's current HP and can never kill a character. With Defender X unable to hit your characters when blinded, you can freely hack away at it until it's HP is finally reduced to 0.

Blocks attacks on Yenke with Guard, except when separated after
performing a Bulldoze. Casts Mighty Guard just once after losing HP.

|
|
Battle Strategy
|
Note about Biran's stats: Biran's HP varies depending upon Kimahri's HP. It is approxiamately 1/3 greater than Kimahri's. If Kimahri has 3000 HP, Biran will have 4000 HP. Biran's Strength is equal to about 2/3 of Kimahri's Strength. If Kimahri has 30 Str, Biran will have 20 Str. Biran's Magic stat is equal to half, of whatever Yenke's Magic stat is. Biran's Speed is equally to 4 less than Kimahri. If Kimahri has a speed of 36, Biran will have a speed of 32.
You can only use Kimahri for this. And because you can only use Kimahri this battle varies from player to player because everyone can take Kimahri down a different path on the Sphere Grid. The same basic strategy remains the same though. Be sure to have a lot of Hi-Potions in stock in case Kimahri doesn't have Cure spells. Biran and Yenke will attack together. Biran and Yenke will cover eachother if they're both together. However if they're seperated and catch Kimahri in a pincer attack, they won't be able to cover eachother, and you're free to hit them. Biran will attack using physical attacks, and very weak magic attacks. Since Kimahri is on his own, try and put him in Protect and Shell status to lessen the damage they do by half. If you're not able to don't worry, you'll just be using Hi-Potions more often. As the battle wears on Biran will cast Mighty Guard on himself, which you can learn from him only after he has used it. So be sure to lower his HP enough for him to use it. Keep attacking Biran and eventually he'll fall.
Getting all the Level 3 Key Spheres you'll ever need: This is a very noteworthy battle as you can steal Lv. 3 Key Spheres from both the Ronsos. If you have sent Kimahri down Rikku's path, steal from Biran at least 5 times, any more and it becomes virtually impossible. It's also reccommended you have Master Thief attached to Kimahri's Armor so that he can steal 2 Key Spheres per steal. Stealing 5 times will net you 10 of them, and that's just from Biran. Do the same to Yenke, and you'll have 20 of them after the fight. Getting Master Thief involves a bit of backtracking. Go to the Calm Lands and hire a chocobo to take you to Remiem Temple. Once there take part in the Chocobo Race and try to get 4 chests without hitting any poles to receive your prize of 30 Pendulums. Attach Master Thief to Kimahri's armor, which will use up all 30 Pendlums, and you're set to rake in those Key Spheres.

You can avoid this one of two ways by preparing for this fight. Buy a bunch of Holy Waters from Wantz on the Mountain Trail, and use them to attach Zombie Ward on your characters' armors. However a more foolproof way is to steal Remedies frm the Grats on the Mountain Path and attach Auto-Med to your armor, while having large supply of Holy Waters on hand. Should Seymour use Lance of Atrophy, the character will automatically use a Holy Water to get rid of the Zombie status before Mortiorchis gets a turn. The other thing to watch out for is when Mortiorchis uses Dispel on everyone, when that happens, it's a sign that Seymour is going to use Cross Cleave, so either have everyone defend with the the button, or quickly put everyone in Protect status to be able to survive this attack. When Mortiorchis casts Reflect on Seymour, Seymour will start by asting Flare on himself to bounce off and hit your characters. Immediately dispel the reflect Mortiorchis casts so that Seymour's Flare damages him instead.

Battle Strategy
|
This battle is one of the toughest fights in the game, and many a player will die here, even if they sit around a bit to level up. What this battle really is about is finding ways to render all of Seymour's attacks survivable, even if you're relativly underpowered. Aeons are practically useless in this battle, they'll get only one chance to attack before Seymour instantly kills them. So with Aeons out of the question here's how to go about systematically rendering Seymour's attacks much less deadly.
Lance of Atrophy - Full-Life combo:
Seymour will use Lance of Atrophy to inflict Zombie status on a character, and then immediately afterwards, Mortiorchis casts Full-Life on that character for an instant kill. How do you avoid this from happening? If you have Master Thief on Kimahri (for getting all those Lv. 3 Key Spheres form the Ronsos earlier) Have him steal from the Grats repeatedly. He'll swipe Remedies from them. And you need just 20 to attach Auto-Med to your armor. Attach Auto-med to everyone's armors, and then go and buy a bunch of Holy Waters from Wantz, back on the trail. Whenever Seymour hits you with Lance of Atrophy, the character will immediately respond by consuming a Holy Water to get rid of the Zombie status and render Full-Life harmless.
Cross Cleave: This is a deadly physical attack Seymour uses that causes about 2500 damage to all characters, which can severly injure Auron, and outright kill Lulu, Yuna, Tidus, and Rikku if you're not at full HP. However you're given a warning signal that this will be Seymour's next attack when Mortiorchis casts Dispel on the party. When that happens, either quickly cast Protect on everyone or defend with the button to cut the damage by half, and make it survivable. After that attack, quickly heal up using Al Bhed Potions, and Yuna's Curaga, and you're set to go again
Reflected Flare attack: This method of attack which Seymour uses is easily avoided by having Yuna quickly casting Dispel on Seymour so that his Flare will damage himself.
Total Annihilation: This is THE attack that will outright produce a game over to every player who encounters this boss. Surprisngly however it is considered a magic attack. So the only way to survive the attack is to qickly cast Shell on the three characters that will be hit. The damage will be reduced by half and all characters will have approxiamtely 400 -1500 HP left overfrom this vicious attack. Heal up quickly after and resume hitting Seymour until he's toast.
