Acquiring Experience
How do my characters gain spells and abilities through experience?

After defeating an enemy or boss, your party will acquire experience based on the amount of damage they inflicted on a vanquished monster. As your character increases their experience level, they obtain new spells and abilities. Spells and abilities are acquired in a specific order, each new spell and ability powerful than the last. These spells and abilities are not related to any equipment and are obtained by the character naturally.

To make this fight easy, kill off the Defender, which has a nasty habit of healing an enormous amount of the CPU's HP, but leave the Attacker alone. Then kill off the CPU, without killing the Attacker in the process. Cecil should attack, Edge should attack, Rydia should use her Sylph summon, and FuSoYa should use single target spells. After the CPU is gone, then kill the Attacker to win the battle. If you kill both the Attacker and Defender before killing the CPU, it will hit you with several instant kill attacks before reviving both the Attacker and the Defender.

You cannot beat Asura unless Rosa knows Wall. Once she does, enter the battle, and have Rosa cast Wall on Asura to keep her from curing herself. Then use normal battle tactics to defeat her. The battle will be made even easier by Asura's cure spells bouncing off her and healing your party members.

You cannot fight Leviathan until you defeat Asura. The battle is actually quite simple. Use Rydia's Lit3 spell, and have Edge use Blitz. Cecil and Kain should attack, and Rosa should heal. The only real danger is when he turns over and unleashes BigWave, but that only happens every few turns or so.

You cannot fight Bahamut until you have defeated Leviathan. At the start of the battle have your whole party use up any StarVeils or MoonVeils you have. Hit as quickly and as hard as you can, because Bahamut is mercilessly fast in his countdown. When the reflect status wears off put it up again as fast as possible. If all goes well you should come out of this fight relativly unscathed.

This boss likes to use Slow and Quake on your party, so have Rosa use Fast and Float to counter. Attack him physically and you shouldn't have a problem; attacking with magic provokes a strong counterattack.

When a boss' opening move is MegaNuke, you know you're in for a fight. Wyvern will cast MegaNuke as soon as the battle starts, before anyone in your party has a chance to do anything. Pray that someone survives, and then revive Rosa and have her revive the rest of the party. Rosa should heal and set up Walls in case Wyvern uses MegaNuke again, and Rydia should summon Bahamut to do a good deal of damage. Cecil, Kain, and Edge should attack as normal. If you survive his opening attack, you have a decent chance of taking him down.

You fight 2 of these monsters at once but its a lot easier than it looks. Defeat the Wyvern first so you can get Cecil's Ragnarok. Once you have that sword, this fight becomes rather simple. Cecil with Ragnarok equipped can do 9999 damage a hit to the Lunasaurs. The other characters should just attack and support Cecil, with Rosa using Cure 4 on the party every turn she gets. It's also helpful to equip armor that lessens damage from fire-elemental attacks, as their Blaze attack can be quite devastating if you're not prepared.

The first thing Plague will do, before you have a a chance to act, is cast Count on your entire party. When the timer hits zero, your entire party's gone. Have Cecil and Edge attack, and have Kain attack as well instead of Jumping; his Jump takes too much time to be effective, and you need to be as fast as possible. Rydia should be able to summon Bahamut once, and Rosa should cast Holy. If you're fast enough and keep up the pressure, he will go down before time runs out.

Zeromus has several attacks that you should watch out for, the most powerful of which is Big Bang. Big Bang not only does around 2000-3000HP damage to each and every member of your party, it also has the effect of Virus, where your HP slowly drains away even after the initial hit. Black Hole nullifies any status effect spells you have cast on your party, and Nuke will kill just about any character it hits.

Rosa should spend every turn casting Cure 4 to keep your party's HP at maximum. Never have her stop casting this; if she needs an Elixir, have Edge or Cecil give it to her. Cecil should attack non-stop. Kain should Jump; not only does his Jump do more damage than his normal attack, if he's off the screen when Big Bang hits, he'll be spared the damage. Edge should throw every throwable thing in your inventory, and then resort to normal attacks.

Rydia should continuously summon Bahamut. When Zeromus' HP gets low, he starts casting Meteo, but it only hits one or two party members and rarely does over 1000HP damage. Keep the pressure up, and eventually, you'll defeat this boss and win the game.
