The Ruby Dragon is one of the most difficult non-boss monsters in the game. It is recommended your party all have 100+ Vit-J or Ruby Dragon will instantly kill any character it attacks. Its physical attacks do roughtly 2000 HP damage. Take advantage of Meltdown and Demi magics to cut down his HP quickly. Use Firaga as an elemental defense. Protect your characters with Shell and Protect magics and use the Doomtrain GF.
Quistis' Degenerator Limit Break will dispatch Ruby Dragon instantly.

Battle Strategies
|
Your party can inflict signifcant damage on Bahamut with Limit Breaks, such as Zell and Squall, who both attack numerous times. Protect your party with Shell and Protect and cast Triple using Cerebrus. Bahamut doesn't attack much. However, when he does, it can be quite devestating. Keep your HP above 4000 and inflict an organized combination of magic and physical attacks.

A B I L I T Y P R O P E R T I E S
Guardian Force abilities in Final
Fantasy VIII are either
innate or command
activated, depending on the type
of ability. There are four
ability categories: junction,
command, GF, and character
abilities. Guardian forces learn
abilities by acquiring AP
from enemies defeated in battle.
Certain abilities can grow
to become new abilities once
their AP requirements have been
met.

Junction
| Junctions magic to a
statistic, such as
strength or speed.
|
Command
| Ability is an action
command, available
during battle.
|
Character

to the GF's
statistic.
