 Acquiring

You must collect a variety of items in a specific amount, along with the Solomon's Ring. Once all the necessary items are collected, simply use the ring from the item menu and you'll obtain Doomtrain.

Solomon's Ring
Solomon's Ring is the key to obtaining Doomtrain. It's located near the drawpoint at Tears' Point in the Esthar area.

Battle Strategies
Junction as many status defenses as possible. Malboro's Bad Breath will inflict Pain, Sleep, Confuse, and Berserk on your entire party in one hit. You can cause considerable damage using GF's such as Shiva and Leviathan, as well as Meltdown and Demi magics.

You can also equip your party with the Mug and Initative abilities. This will allow your characters to 'strike first' and steal the item before it can inflict damage. Simply run away after acquring it and perform again to get the 6 you'll need.

 Runaway Train

Railroad crossing bells ring as a track of flames whisks under the enemy party. From afar, a massive train roars and gains speed. Doomtrain slams through all enemies, causing all status ailments and depleting vitality.

Guardian Force abilities in Final Fantasy VIII are either innate or command activated, depending on the type of ability. There are four ability categories: junction, command, GF, and character abilities. Guardian forces learn abilities by acquiring AP from enemies defeated in battle. Certain abilities can grow to become new abilities once their AP requirements have been met.

Junction
Junctions magic to a statistic, such as strength or speed.
Command
Ability is an action command, available during battle.
Character
Ability is equipped to the character's statistic.
GF
Ability is equipped to the GF's statistic.
Ability
Ability is a menu command, available from the game menu.
Party
Ability is equipped to the entire party.

Vital statistics of a GF aren't much different from that of a character. As experience and AP is collected from battles, Guardian Forces also gain strength and HP.

Cards can be acquired typically by defeating enemies, mugging them, completeing subquests, and battling characters to a game of Triple Triad throughout the entire world. Rules vary, based on where you've played and what your opponent may desire to play under.
