Antlion will pound your party with standstorm attacks, however the attack itself cannot kill your party. It can only take your party HP down to a minimal value. Since this repeated attack will make curing your party useless, simply reserve Phoenix Downs to bring back slain party members. Attack physically and cast ice-elemental spells. There's no need to worry about party recovery at the end of the battle, as all swooned characters will be revived and all statuses restored.

Ralvuimahgo can take heavy damage from phyiscal attacks and ice-element attacks, but he'll coil up and increase his defense significantly. Make sure you keep your attacks at bay while in this state or he'll react with a powerful earthquake spell that'll damage your party members significantly. Keep your party in good standing with recovery spells and keep an eye out for Ultra Sound Wave, which will shrink your character to mini-size. This status can be reversed using Mini or Remedy on the effected character, or when Ralvuimahgo uses the spell again on the same character.

Yank all the goodies you can with Zidane while having Vivi dish out hard magic and another non-magic user attacking physically. Keep in mind, Lani tends to Scan the party occasionally to determine weaknesses, although her resulting battle strategies aren't as targetted. Dagger will take many of Lani's hits, so make sure she recovers herself accordingly.

Soulgage, being an undead monster, can be dispatched in one hit by casting Life on it. However, if you wish to battle the hard way, use phyiscal attacks and holy magic to cut him down to size. Casting fire can hurt him significantly, but also "light up" the leaf attacks as fire blades, which will inflict greater damage on your party.

Trading off physical attacks for a few rounds, then following up with a recovery spell, then attacking again can easily take him out. Make sure you attack him only when he confronts you, as you'll miss if you go for him while he's hoping around (and he'll counter attack). Several of Zidane's attack skills are effective as well, such as Lucky Seven.

F R I E N D L Y   M O N S T E R   P R O P E R T I E S
Throughout the world of Final Fantasy IX, you may encounter a friendly monster in battle who is looking for an item more than a fight. Of course, attacking a friendly monster will cause it to run away. However, should you give the friendly monster the item its looking for, you will be treated with an AP bonus and an item in return.

As listed in order on the friendly monsters page, take the winning item and give it to the next friendly monster. After you've exchanged all the necessary items between monster to monster, you'll have finished a sub quest which enables you to battle the optional boss Ozma at short range. Consult the secret boss page for information and tactics on this boss.

Offering
Win Item
The item the friendly monster will want. If you give the friendly monster this item, you'll be treated with bonus AP and the battle will end.
Item you'll acquire after the battle is over. Some friendly monsters will simply drop spoils while others will drop important items necessary to give to the next friendly monster.

* information fields can be sorted in ascending or descending order.
