So it seems SE are testing the waters with the audio play they added to the X HD re-release.

Sin has returned, Tidus and Yuna have split up as Yuna's gone off to fight Sin and he's too injured to follow her. Auron's daughter is a new character apparently.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that this games premis(if it gets made)shits on the ending of X-2 just like X-2's did to the first.

Even if they actually made it (plz stahp), it's way to late for them to make it into a proper console title, and it'll probably end up on iOS or 3DS.

Yes it does - SE wants to wring more money out of X/X-2's HD release (hence the timing of this info) - what better way than to announce a new third title? Yes, I'm cynical about this (but then I never liked X and X-2 anyway so meh).

Besides, aren't Kitase and Nomura busy with other projects? (Like XV)

Man I remember being ten and thinking "why doesn't Square make sequels to Final Fantasies in the same world, surely they would be fun and entertaining and pick up on other aspects of the game that we enjoyed and have wonderful stories that made sense and also make them lots of money."

What the shit happened.

It is as if I had somehow found a monkey somewhere along the way and specifically cut off its hand for the wishins.

I was thinking just the other day how back in high school I thought I'd be a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise for as long as it lasted. Nowadays I BARELY have enough interest to stay up to date on the games announced, and I haven't played a new one since FFXII.
