I finally buckled and bought FF14. I swore after sinking 10 years into FF11 that I'd never play another MMO but the more time friendly FF14 has lured me in. I am definitely a fish out of water as it is very different from it's older brother. Slowly I am picking up how to do things and the controls are becoming more familiar. I am to the point where I want to start being able to research missions, quests, how to unlock certain features of gameplay. Can some of you veteran players list some good resource websites and their functions? For FFXI I had FFXIah.com and ffxiclopedia among dozens of others like craft timers etc etc.

Anyone else recently start FF14?

Welcome to Eorzea Scribe! :D

Two sites I use personally are Gamerescape's FFXIV page (http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com) and the official Lodestone guide made by SE but editable by players (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide) which are very helpful for general information about gameplay, content and questing.

If you're into the game's lore, the Lore section on the official forum (be sure to stay the hell away from the rest of the official forums as it's generally a den of eltist douchebaggery), is very interesting, as the game's main Localization lead (Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, alias 'Fernehawles' on the forum) frequently posts there and interacts with players, answering questions and giving deeper insight into some of the game's deeper story mysteries. ;)

Finally, if you're interested in getting into roleplaying your character, the FFXIV Roleplayers community at http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/index.php is well worth looking at. :)

There are other sites around too (like FFXIVDB, the old FFXIVWiki, Allakhazam etc), but these are the ones I use personally myself. :)

I also find these sites pretty useful:

http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/FF14_Wiki - Wiki with a lot of information about stuff in the game.

http://www.youtube.com/user/MTQcapture Really good YT page for dungeon and raid walkthroughs. Mizzteq explains encounter mechanics in an easy-to-follow way. Definitely worth watching especially if you're a tank or healer.

I was just hoping there was something out there like this! I watched one of the endgame fights and thought to myself that it might be too much for me to understand without somebody explaining the mechanics invovled. Thank you
